in Halevy Concert

Cleveland Violinist
Is Second Soloist

The first concert of the 22nd sea-
son of the Halevy Singing Society
Tuesday evening, in the lecture
hall of the Detroit Institute of
Arts, will feature two guest artists
from neighboring cities. They are
Dorothy Ornest, soprano, of Ann
Arbor, and Dr. Jerome Gross, vio-
linist, of Cleveland.
Miss Anest, a native of Utica,
N. Y., is a graduate of the East-
man School of Music and of the
University of Michigan. She now
presents a weekly radio recital for
the University of Michigan. She
appeared last season in New
York's Town Hall and as a soloist
with the New York Philharmonic
Orchestra.
FIRST CONCERT HERE
Dr. Gross, who prefers medical
work as a profession, has studied
with Toscha Seidel, Oscar Shum-
sky and Arthur Loesser. This will
be his first Detroit concert.
The Halevy chorus, directed by
Dan Frohman and accompanied by
Rebecca Frohman, will also parti-
cipate.

Berghoff, Sonia Bussell, Grace
Cutler, Rose Golden, Rose Kra.
