Berman, member of the Detroit council of the east central youth division of the Joint Distribution Committee, has been named chairman of the regional SOS committee, which will spear- head a drive among youth organi. zations in six states to collect supplies for overseas survivors. The appointment was made by Norman Naimark, of Detroit, chair- man of the east central region. Berman will work with the vice chairmen of the youth division and with adult SOS committees to stimulate a maximum partici- pation of young people. The month of October will be devoted to the first major project of collecting canned foods. Other regional officers of the youth division include: Richard B.
