With Sally Fields
I FEEL LIKE I've been flying
upsido down with the wind—
such a week I've had. What with
getting material together for the
Rosh Hashonah edition, getting set
for the I3nai Brith section, the-
atrical and nite spot pages, at-
tending the opening meetings and
luncheons f o r
the fall season
of the various
o r g anizations.
I've really had
a time of it.
Tried to get
a couple of
hours sleep Sat-
urday morning,
Did you ever
Fields
try catching a
nap at the Grand Central Station
in New York? Believe me, that's
a cinch in comparison.
At 7:30 a.m. Burr! The tele-
phone and of course, it has to be
in my boudoir . . A voice on the
other end, "Is Ronnie up? We
have football practice at 8
o'clock" . . Business of waking
Ronnie starts. Back to bed.
Brrrrr! Renee to 1 d me to
wake her ur, •e're playing ten-
nis at 8:30." I read myself to
sleep.
Again the phone, "Oh, gee Sally,
did I wake you up, I'm so sorry.
But you know, I bought a new
Presto cooker and it's simply won-
derful. It made me think of you.
(Oh, yes?) You know, I mean,
knowing how busy you are, I got
to wondering about who did your
cooking and if you had to do it.
You can get a roast done in two
hours, etc., etc."
"Gee, that's wonderful thanks
for telling me about it. How much
are they? Only $12.95? Okey,
send me one."
"Oh, Sally but I'm not selling
them, you can get them at Grin-
nell's."
More business of trying to get
to bed. Two minutes later, "Sally,
I thought I'd better catch you be-
fore you got away, but you know
our group is giving a fashion show
next Tuesday and I wanted you
to know so that you'd out it on
your calendar and conic." And on
and on from requests for a new
car to furnished apartments which
reminds me I need one badly my-
self.
No Sireeee! Grand Central Sta-
tion is a morgue in comparison to
the Fields establishment.

"WHERE THERE'S A WILL
there's a way." I've heard that
since I've been knee hi to a grass-
hopper and here's a couple of
smart young vets to prove it.
Bob and Jackie Shorr (Mary
Shorr's boys) are back from serv-
ice. Going to school but the GI
allowance isn't quite enough.
S00000, knowing what "fress-
ers" most of us are and how we
like to relax at home on Sunday
mornings, they've evolved this
novel idea and ran the following
ad in the Jewish Chronicle: "Hot
bagels and rolls at your door on
Sunday mornings. Call Bob the
bagel boy, TY. 6-1782"... Swamp.
ed with calls? Ask Bob. He'll get
you hot bread, too, and later on
even lox and white fish.
