JUNIOR• HADASSAII
Junior Hadassah, Young Wo-
men's Zionist Organization of De-
troit, announces that plans for the
coming year have been formulated
during the summer by the calen-
dar committee and the executive
boards. The second Sunday of each
month is designated as Junior
Hadassah Sunday and many social
affairs are scheduled throughout
the year.
Many of the details of the pro-
gram will be revealed at the mem-
bership teas to be held on Sept.
8 and at the first meeting of the
season on Sept. 15. All girls be-
tween 18-25 years may attend.
In charge of the membership
campaign are Rhodine Ungar and
her associate chairmen, Mary
Cohen and Fanny Greenwald, Cen-
tral group; Jean Quidd, Russell
Woods group, and Marjorie Salk,
University group.
In charge of the three groups
are presidents Gertrude Goldman.
Central; Lillian Gluck, Russell
Woods, and Toby Langer, Univer-
sity.

The women of the Sholem-Folk
Institute will dedicate their forth-
coming noon donor luncheon to
the twentieth year jubilee celebra-
tion of the Sholem-Alelchem Folk
schools.
Ethel Shorr, who has long been
a leader in this activity, has been
chosen chairman of the affair.
A well-attended luncheon was
held at Mrs. Shorr's estate in Man-
chester, Mich., where plans were
made for the jubilee donor lunch-
eon to be held Dec. 18, at the
Book Cadillac Hotel.

KNOLLWOOD CLUB
Following a tradition which be-
gan when the club was first estab-
lished, Knollwood Country Club
held its annual President's Day
stag party Wednesday, honoring
this year's club president, Harry
N. Grossman.
As always, the party was an
all-day affair and a highlight of
the club year. It was restricted
to members only and drew a capa-
city crowd.
A whole day of golf and a
buffet luncheon were topped off
with a dinner which featured the
presentation of handsome gifts to
Grossman. The presentation was
made by Milton K. Mahler, en-
tertainment committee chairman.
Prizes for the day's golf games
and many door prizes were also
awarded at the dinner.
A silver loving cup was pre-
sented to Arnold Gross, who won
this year's Knollwood golf cham-
pionship from his 21-year-old son,
Norman Gross, the runnerup.

INFANT'S SERVICE GROUP
Infant's Service Group is mak-
ing arrangements for a member.
ship tea to be held Tuesday, Sept.
10, at the Book Cadillac Hotel.
The entertainment for the af-
ternoon will be a fur style show,
sponsored by Irving Furs. Various
members of the group will act
as models.
Members and prospective mem-

EUROPEAN WELFARE ORG.
A special meeting of the Jewish
Women's European Welfare Or-
ganization will be held Monday,
Aug. 26, at 1 p. m., at the Bnai
Moshe Synagogue, Dexter and
Lawrence.
At this meeting reports will be
heard on the success of the last
affairs and on recommendations
from the board in regard to ap-
plications of European and Pal-
estine orphans, who are asking
steamship tickets or relief for
support.
High holiday checks will be
sent to orphans who are on the
regular monthly supporting list,
and temporary relief will be made
to new ones.

911ZRACIII SISTERS
An outdoor card party will be
held at 1:30 p. m. Wednesday,
Aug. 28, at the home of Mrs. Sil-
verstein, of 12056 Dexter Blvd., by
the Sisters of Zion Mizrachi, Mrs.
Gerald Levitt, president, an-
nounced.
Tickets can be obtained from
Mrs. Rose Singer, chairman, at
UN. 3-4532. They will also be sold
at the door. All members and
their friends are invited.

PAROCHIAL SCHOOL
Registration is now in progress
for the new term of the Detroit
Hebrew Parochial School, sched-
uled to begin Sept. 4.
Elementary classes are held dai-
ly from 9:30 a. m. to 4:30 p. m.
Two high school classes are in ses-
sion each day, beginning at 9 a. m.
and 2 p.m., respectively. Elemen-
tary students are transported to
and from school in a bus, and
lunches are provided at noontime.

YESIIIVATII BETA YEIIUDAH
The ladies of Yeshivath Beth
Yehudah will hold a memorial
service on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 8
p.m. at the synagogue, Dexter at
Cortland, on the recision of the
Yahrzeit of the 93 Beth Jacob
martyrs of ' Warsaw, in whose
tribute the local religious school
for girls was founded as a division
of the Yeshivah some three years
ago. Rabbi M. J. Wohlgelernter
will be the speaker of the evening,
and Cantor H. J. Adler will lead
in the reciting of Kaddish and
"Mole." The public is invited.
At the opening of the Fall term
in the public schools, Yeshivath
Beth Yehudah will also begin a
new yehr of Hebrew religious in-
struction for hundreds of Detroit
boys and girls, in its major divi-
sions: the afternoon school, sup-
plementing public education, and
the day school, combining both
general and Jewish training. Pu-
pils range in age from kinder-
garten through high school, and,
in advanced classes, young men
and woman attending local uni-
versities. The 1945-46 school year
at Yeshivath Beth Yehudah was
marked by a record enrollment of
637 students in all departments.

NORTHWEST HEBREW
Arrangements have been com-
pleted for the dedication celebra-
tion of the newly-completed social
hall of the Northwest Hebrew
Congregation and Center Syna-
gogue scheduled for Sunday, Sept.
8. The afternoon ceremonies will
be featured by the solemn pro-
cessional of honored members car-
rying the five Sefer Torahs which
are to be presented to the syna-
gogue at that time.
