' Harry Miller (of the Corned-
beef kings) comes back from
Greenbush Inn where ho says it's
the most beautiful country in the
world . . • The Inn is lovely, the
service and all the facilities for
vacationing are superb ... At first
i thought that Peggy Dormer,
who's helping run the spot, was
responsible solely for so much en-
thusiasm on Harry's part but
when Herman Lewis Jr. (Detroit
Typesetting) came back from
Greenbush all pepped up and full
of praise for it, I knew it must
be so . . . Of course, having been
in that territory numerous times,
I knew it was so, anyway . . .
Since Harry has already been va-
cationing at South Haven and
back, says he didn't want to con-
fine his charms to just one part of
the country. Wanted to give all
the gals a break and glimpse of
his manly "fizeek" in a swim suit.

Mel Barnet (Mrs. Barney) writes
from Harbor Springs that the
weather is ideal, the beach perfect
t and that she's getting a muchly
needed rest. Good hearing from
you, Mel, tho' we missed you at
these parties 'round town for Gol-
die and the rest . . . Betty Harris
recently returned from a month's
vacation in Portland, Oregon,
where she visited with the famlee
. . . And what a grand time she
had. Was even too busy to drop
a line and here I was saving post-
cards from all over as a hobby ..
Anyway, welcome home, Betty, old
kid.

And a grand time was had by
e all . . . Mrs. Philip S. Weisman
and daughter, Ruth, just got home
after spending six months In Cali.

dence on Covington Drive. Wel-
come home.

Woodworth Heights (Sam Adler
and Jos. Jaffa) have extended
their lands on Michigan Ave. as
far as Greenfield Road. It must
have taken some smart manipula-
tion to get the Fords to sell that
property . . . Anyway 'twas good
buying. The sub is getting closer
to completion but unless you're a
GI you can't buy In. That's taking
care of the boys, eh what?

Allan Herman really got a find
this time when he tied up the
Buddy Morrow aggregation which
appeared at the Downtown theater
all last week ...
Allan is a Chi-
c ago produh
who boasts an
aunt in Detroit
(of the S. L.
Blum Dept.
store on Wood.
ward Ave.), was
a drummer who
had higher am-
bitions. Became
manage r o f Buddy Morrow
bands among whom was Benson's
who enjoyed some success in Chi-
cago and New York but this time
Al believes he's really got a sweet
hit band and yours truly agrees
with him .. . Buddy hails from
New Haven, Conn., bean playing
trombone since he's twelve years
old . . . Played with Bunny Bore-
gin, Vincent Lopez, Artie Shaw.
Eddie Duchin and others. Made
recent recordings with his own
orchestra for Mercury. Buddy is
a personable and very likeable
young fellow who knows his busi-
ness and his public's wants . . .
He came to the Detroit theater
from a record-breaking 5-week
run at the Capitol theater in New
York. He did an excellent job
here. Among his early fall book-
ings are the e•reen•s nth at Pitts-
burgh, the Pennsylvania Hotel,
New York, etc. Buddy Morrow
and his orchestra are destined for
big things in the orchestra world.
Max Kahan recently returned
from N. Y. all full of praises for
his 11-year-old niece, Suzanna,
daughter of his brother Getzel .. .
How quickly the childish mind
grasps the English language and
becomes acclimated to new sur-
roundings. Getzel and his family
were uprooted as so many others
when they were able to make a
get-away from Paris and came to
So. America back in 1939 . . %. For
the past 11 months, he has been
living in N. Y. operating a nylon
hose mfg. outfit. Suzanne speaks
English beautifully as well as
French, Yiddish, etc. Now Max is
doing all he possibly can through
the help of the Hias to bring an-
other brother and sister from Ger-
many . . . Good work, Max. Here's
luck.

What a proud pop! Boy, oh, boy.
You should hear how he boasts of
the baby weighing 9 lbs. and over
10 ounces already ("ken ein
Hore") and it only weighed 8 lbs.
and one ounce at birth, June 28.
I'm talking about Herman Radner.
The mom is Henrietta (nee Dwor-
kin) and I'm told that the baby
is as cute as a bug's ear ... God
bless them, aren't all babies?
