The woman who had protected
Antonina from the Nazis by
claiming she was her own Ille-
gitimate child, informed him she
wished to be repatriated to Po-
land. She believed Antonina's real
mother to be dead. At his request
members of Pfc. Weiner's family
in New York brought his plans to
the attention of the NRS Migra-
tion Department, which prompt-
ly began to determine the where.
abouts of the mother, involving
inquiries in several countries.
Information that Mrs. Wars-
zawska was alive, had been re-
patriated to Poland from Ger.
many, and was seeking her daugh-
ter reached NRS unexpectedly in
November, 1945, when the Buf-
falo Refugee Service asked NRS
for assistance in locating Anto-
nine at the request of a relative
there to whom the mother had
written, giving her address in
Lodz. NRS thereupon forwarded
her address and that of Antonina,
who was then living in a dis-
placed persons camp in Weisba-
den, Germany, to the Warsaw of-
fice of JDC, overseas represen-
tatives for NRS. The JDC noti-
fied NRS of its success in re-
uniting mothdr and daughter in
Lodz, Poland.
"Antonina is a lovable little
girl, with dark eyes and hair,"
Mr. Weiner said. "She has per-
sonality galore, and intelligence
and control of mind equal to or
better than an adult's. She cap.
tivated my whole battalion, in-
cluding the commanding officers.
She used to cat regularly at our
mess, often at the colonel's table,
and attend our movies. That kid
certainly deserves every break
she gets."

Remember that there are also more than 1000 Bill
Pay ment Agencies in neighborhood stores. You can pay
your electric hill at an y of these without extra charge.
Look for the familiar Edison sign in the store window.
