With Sally Fields

Welcome Bnai Brith District
Grand Lodge,6! Welcome to both
the men and the women. May
your visit in
our city be a
memorable one.
May you attain
those goals
which you've
set for your-
selves . . . And
when your
work is thru,
let down your
hair and have
Sally Fields
fun. You'll find a number of spots
on these pages you'll enjoy I
know.
•
Where to go? What to do?
That's the question. If you want
to eat there are any number of
good eating spots. Just pick your
own—no, no, poison is not the
word (must have been thinking of
the poison pen accusation—see
letter box) it's delectables. For
good kosher-style food, try Bill
and Harry Miller's, the Corn beef
kings, downtown, or Boesky's the
ever popular rendevous on 12th
where Abe and Harry are your
hosts or the Three Roses on
Second . . . There'.i the renowned
Carl's Chop House, known from
Coast _o Coast for those luscious
steaks and lobsters . . . If 'tis a
bit of black and tan, Bobbie's
serves delicious southern fried
chicken that just melts in yo'
mouth. It's after hours (the 'joint'
is never closed and just starts
"hoppin" after 2 a.m.) you'll be
a-rubbin' elbows with celebrities
there .. For a bit of the Oriental
—Chinese food at its best, try
Nom Wah's (with the mirrored
front) and Harry Chung's, just in
the next block . . both are open
until 3 a.m.
•
Poignant moments: When presi-
dent Louis Gordon introduced nv)
as a new member (Muriel Fried-
man swore me in) into the Jew-
ish Metropolitan Club (my Zelige
mother's club). They showed me
the new president's chair (em zu
laingere yahren). It'q beautiful!
It's to carry a plaque in my
mother's memory.
•
An outstanding, new variety
floor show makes its debut at
Lee 'n' Eddie's Supper Club on
Friday, July 5 (just in time for
the Convention). Prominent in the
all-star cast are
the piano zany,
Charlie Chaney,
billed as "The
Unpredictable";
Randolp.s,
known as the
"Silent Knight
of Magic"; Ol-
lie Franks, hi-
larious femin-
ine comedy
star; the at- Randolph
tractive Yvonne Armon Dancers
and others. Artie Fields, his trum-
pet and his orchestra, featurin
vocalists Connie Gale and Doug
Ryan, continue as the rhythm
highlight. Lee 'n' Eddie's will re-
main open all summer. And grea)
day—it's air conditioned!

Congratulations Irene Rodman
on your new post as publicity
chairman of Louis Marshall. I'm
glad you took my suggestions to
give your services to Bnai Brith
Judging from your splendid rec-
ord with the Primrose Club, B.B.
has surely gained a great deal
with you as an active worker in
their midst. Good luck!
•
Delegates be sure to visit the
ever popular Sammy Sofferin's
Wonder Bar. They've come up
with the terrific idea of making
every Monday night rumba night.
Two fine bands on the summer
bill of entertainment are featured.
Frank Gagen (America's Smartest
Small Band) with scintillating
Eilene Faye the "Kentucky Wild-
cat" on the vocals are on hand for
that smooth sophisticated style of
dancing . . . The other fine ag-
gregation sharing the spotlight
with Maestro Gagen is a rumba
trio, the Kingsland-Aiers. The trio
takes you for a musical ride thru
South American countries and fea-
tures that exotic "Stormy Weather
Gal" Wanda Rio on the vocals.
All this and air-conditioning at
just the right temperature, plus
food that's good enough to eat
and enjoy is probably the reason
that the Wonder Bar looks like
New Years Eve every night.

•
And here is luck to the Joe
Handlesmans on their 27th wed-
ding anniversary -- and to Rita
Fisher, Howard Freshman and
Leola Freshman, who celebrated
a triple birthday Sunday at Lee
'n' Eddie's.. (Looks like every-
body's going there these days).
And the Sol Tenenbaum, Chi-
cago (Old Bear Lounge, Shirley
Waterstone's sister) rolled in their
15th wedding anniversary at Lee
'n' Eddie's..There were the Doc
Waterstones, the Nathan Feld-
mans, the Abe Sher's, and the
Sidney Desows..Many happy re-
turns -- ..and the Singer kids
(Babe Sutton's pride and joy) on
their 5th wedding anniversary.

And double congratulations go
to the double sister and brother
wedding which was held June
30 at Park Avenue Pent House.
It's Shirley Eunice Stocker to
Stanley David ts.rhtfran, and Fred-
erick Harry Stocker to Rose Ru-
bin. Both the kids are the off
springs, the Geo. Stockers,
while Stanley claims the Isadore

creators, and Rose belongs to the
