incorporates bits of his famous
Army routine; a number on the
housing shortage; a parody on
"Onesy Twosy," and a new song
with a trick ending," Ow-wah-wah-

Boy, Tonight I'm Gonna Live." . .
In the supporting show are lovely
Barbara Smith, new singing dis-
covery, who features the melody,

Billy Wells and

usually fine tap dance routine;
the Slayman Ali Troupe of tum-
blers are show-stoppers; and
Johnny King sings Irish songs. .
The Aurora Roche - Carlyle Danct.
Group, direct from Miami, Florida,
remain with their striking pre-
sentation of Latin American, In-
dian, and Chinese dances. Spark-
ing the show is master of cere-
monies Frankie Rapp, erstwhile
favorite. The Jumpin' Jivers are
peppy jitterbugs, and the hand-
some and famous Ben Young and
his orchestra play for the shows
and dancing.

Darn it, can't think! can't think!
Saw Danny Raskin (Jewish News)
in front of a popular nitery look-
ing sorta dejected. There were
three lovely damsels (two of whom
were sisters from Rio de Janeiro)
and a very handsome young man
with him. They had dropped over
to hear the newest band-sation,
Artie Fields, and his orchestra,
but one of the So. American young
ladies didn't look 21 ('tho she was
but couldn't prove it), too, so they
were turned out. There wasn't
much satisfaction just listening
to the strains of the music as it
floated thru to the street. . . One

air, which puts you in just the
right mood to enjoy the music,
the food and the liqueurs at Mich-
igan's favorite Club Rio (for they
come from all over the State to
this very delightful spot).

Which brings me to those in the
know . . in the know about the
fascinating rendezvous in he heart
of Pontiac -- the beautiful Fiesta
Bar in the Roosevelt Hotel. . 'Tis
an unsurpassed nlayground to
while away that leisure afternoon
or it's the ideal spot to get away
from the humdrum of a busy day
.. or if it's just a few hours of
quiet and rest, those accommoda-
tions are yours for the asking. ,
It's absorbingly interesting ta
watch Max Shaer, the very genial
exponent of hospitality, flit around
his numerous friends and, guest ,
adhering to their wants and
whims. . . Believe me, they are
numerous -- what with the suc-
cessful operation of the hotel,
playing host to Fiesta Bar patrons
and keeping his many clients'
books in order. It's no wonder
Maxie has so many friends.
And I hear he has a very sweet
15-year-old daughter, as well.

Did I remember to tell you 'bout
the Alpha Zeta Omega Frat party
last Sunday at Lee 'n' Eddie's'
What a handsome and lively
crowd ('twould be a pleasure to
let any of 'em pull your teeth)
and what pretty ladies, too .. or
did I tell you what a picnic the
show folks at the Latin Quarter
were having doing only one show
a nite on account of the complete
sell-out of the house to organiza-
tions these many nites .. or about
Tommy Montgomery, that organ
wizard, going to the Wedgewood
Room, and about Pete %'ierra, that
artist of the Ivories, taking his
place in the Latin Quarter Lounge
. . or that the dynamic Diana
Dale, the piano-vations gal who
does scads and scads of sophist!.

When she asked for a rhumba
and Artie suggested "Quere Me
Mucho," and she replied "Ilokay!",
I wanted to tear her apart. Anita

no Yiddish, only Spanish. . . It is,
however, very apparent where she
derives all her charm from ---

and Ann's aunt, who is also visit-
ing here. . . Others at the table
were the Bernard Raitt's (Nickey
Wasserman, whom I hadn't seen
since she was a bitty girl but who
was looking so ultra, ultra) and
the Harold Tachna's and Ann's
very good-looking brother, young
Perlmutter, on a visit from the
University of Wisconsin (Bebaba-
leba, girls! Here's where I really
wished I was 'bout 20 years young-
er). . . But do let me tell you
about Ann — Must be the recent
motherhood plus the fact that her
handsome hubby, George, has but
newly returned from service that
has given her that blooth to her
cheeks and that glitter to her
eyes. Keep up the good work,
George. . . Others in the room
were the Schlussel family of Chi-
cago Blvd., celebrating "Poppa"
Schlussel's 70th birthday (biz hun-
dred und tzwanzig yahr") and you
can believe me that he didn't look
a day over 50 ("umbeshreean").
. . There was Mr. and Mrs. Eddie
Schlussel, sister and hubby Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Weinstein of Ak-
ron (she's one of the twins). Mrs.
S. Sr. too, looked, "kaineinhore,"
very charming and ....extremely
youthful in her very smart outfit
and perky hat. "Nu men zol not'
derleben fiele simchez."
There's good news; to-nite! Pon-
tiac's Club Rio has given in to
Spring. It's opened the doors for
dinner, dancing and fun galore
on Sunday Nites as well, which
policy will prevail thruout the
summer. .. And when I said fun
galore, I meant just that. . . Just
think, you start off with a beauti-
ful drive along the picturesque
charm of the country's byways,
o'er undulating hills, with the
warm friendly freeze of the sum-
mer's evening caressing your face
— you know, you sort of get the
feel of romance from the very
