Passover services at Shaarey
Zedek will begin at 6:30 p.m., on
Monday, April 15. Rabbi Morris
Adler will preach during the first
day's service on Tuesday, Apr. 16.
Rabbi Gershon G. Rosenstock
will officiate on Wednesday, Apr.
17, Rabbi Adler, Apr. 20 and 23,
and Rabbi Rosenstock, Apr. 22.

The Men's Club of Shaarey Ze-
dek staged a rehearsal for Pass-
over and an evening of Jewisli
music on Wednesday, Apr. 10.
Rabbis Adler and Rosenstock, and
Cantor J. H. Sonenklar conducted
a model Seder and explained the
procedure and the symbols.

The Junior Congregation of
Shaarey Zedek will hold sepa-
rate Passover services on April
16, 17, 22 and 23 in the Frank
Memorial Chapel. Services will be-
gin at 9:30 a.m.
Charles Kramer will be the cha-
zon and Dale Boesky, the Baal
Koreea. The new Jr. Congregation
choir, consisting of Eliot Charlip
Dick Sanders and Leonard Bar-
on, will participate in the serv-
ices.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Ye-
shivath Chachmey Lublin will
have its 4th Annual Donor Lun-
cheon on Tuesday, May 28, at
12:30 p.m., in the Bnai Moshe au-
ditorium, Dexter and Lawrence.
This year, as in previous years, a
journal will be published com-
memorating the event.
Mrs. I. Levine and Mrs. Wein-
berg are co-chairmen of the ban-
quet. Tickets can be bought

Young Israel's Passover services
will he held this year at its Joy
Road and Northwestern branch
synagogues and will be led by
members of the organization. Ser-
mons will be delivered by Rabbi
Israel E. Turner, of Young Israel
The Northwestern branch serv-
ices are being condu&ed in Yeshi-
vath Beth Yehudah, pending con-
struction of Young Israel's center
on Dexter and Fullerton.

Three generations of traditional
Jewish womenhood will be assem-
bled at the Mother-Daughter ban
quet of the Women's League of
Young Israel, Tuesday, April 30,
at Zacks' Catering Co., 8939 - 12th
St. The program will feature ad-
dresses by Mrs. Leonard Winer
and Miss Judith Sperka. Mistress
of ceremonies will be Mrs. Max
J. Wohlgelernter.
Mrs. Phillip Forman is chair-
man and Mrs. Alvin Poplack, co-
chairman, of the banquet. Tickets

and Linwood, last Saturday night,
Zeirei Agudath Israel of Detroit,
heard a complete recorded report
by its national president, Michael
G. Tress, on his recent mission as
an UNRRA representative to dis-
placed persons camps in Europe
Opening the meeting, Rev. J.
Borenstein, president of the De-
troit Zeirei, stressed the need for
renewed efforts to help stricken
Jews.
The chairman of the Keren Ha-
yishuv Fund, Rev. A. Tennenbaum,

Temple Israel

"The First Passover Since Vic-
tory" will be the subject of the
sermon which Rabbi Leon Fram
will deliver at the Passover Serv-
ice of Temple Israel on the first
day of the festival, Tuesday, April
16, at 10:30 a.m., in the Lecture
Hall of the Detroit Institute of
Arts. Cantor Robert S. Tulman
and the Temple Israel Choir, di-
rected by Dan Frohman and ac-
companied by Karl W. Haas at
the organ, will render traditional
Passover music.
Members of Temple Israel and
their children will attend the
Passover Family Sabbath Eve Ser-
vice on Friday, April 19, at 8:30
p.m., in the Lecture Hall of the
Detroit Institute of Arts.
On the seventh day of Passover,
Monday, April 22, at 10:30 a.m.,
Temple Israel will conduct its tra-
ditional Yizkor Memorial Service.

Northwest Hebrew

Arrangements have been com-
pleted for the Passover services
of the Northwest Hebrew Congre-
gation and Center with the fol-
lowing schedule: Monday, April
15, 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, April 16,
9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday,
April 17, 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., at
17601 Roselawn. The following will
be conducted at the Bagley School:
Sunday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m.;
Monday, April 22, at 9 a.m. and
6:30 p.m., and Tuesday, April 23,
at 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Yizchor
services will be conducted at
10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23.

Bnai Moshe

Congregation Bnai Moshe will
begin the Passover festival with
Slum B'Chorim services Monday,
at 7:15 a.m. Evening services will
begin at 6:45 and morning pray-
ers at 9. Cantor David Katzman
will conduct the services.
Rabbi Moses Fischer and Rabbi
Ellezer A. Levi will preach the
sermons on alternate days.
Yizkor prayers will be said the
last day of Passover, Tuesday,
April 23. Services that day will
begin at 8:30 a.m.

Irwin Tamler was elected presi-
dent of Congregation* Bnai Moshe
at the annual meeting held April
7. He will succeed Harry Rosman,
who is relinquishing the office
after serving for two consecutive
terms.
Sam Freedman was elected as
vice-president. Eugene Weiss and
Dr. Jos. Starman were re-elected
treasurer and secretary, respec-
tively. Sidney Rosman, Louis
Kepes and Isadore Pollak were
chosen to fill vacancies on the
board for three year terms. They
will serve with John Adler, Joseph
Brown, Theodore Curtis, Milton
Eisler, A. Finkelstein, Alex Fisch,
Ben F. Goldman, Alfred Gunsberg
and Carl Rozner, who hold over.

Downtown Synagogue

Passover Services will be con-
ducted daily at the Downtown
Synagogue, 1205 Griswold St., be-
ginning Monday evening, April 15.
Morning Services will start at R
a.m., and evening Services at 5:30
p.m. Rabbi Rosenwasser will of-
ficiate.
On the concluding day of Pass-
over, Tuesday, April 23, the Yiz-
kor Memorial Services will begin
at 9 a.m., and continue until 1
p.m.

Beth Aaron

The new Beth Aaron Synagogue
will be completed in time for
Passover services, it was announc-
ed recently at a meeting held at
the home of Mr. Carl Krupp, vice-
president.
Services will be held at 6:30
p.m., Monday, from 9 a.m. to 6.30
p.m., Tuesday and at 9 a.m. Wed-
nesday.
A committee is now working on
plans for the formal opening of
the Synagogue scheduled for June
16

Rabbi Joshua Sperka of Congre-
gation Bnai David will occupy
the pulpit and preach the ser-
mon on the first day of Pesach,
Tuesday, April 16, on the subject,
"From Servitude to Service." The
sermon will deal with the ob-
jectives as well as the obligation
of the approaching Allied Jewish
Campaign. On the second day of
P e s a c h, Wednesday, April 17,
Rabbi Sperka will speak on "The
Counting of the Sefirah." On Sab-
bath C'hol Homed the Rabbi's
sermon will be on the Book of
Song of Songs.

On Sunday, April 17, at 10:00
a.m., the Religious School will
hold its Annual School Seder in
the Social Hall. The Seder will
be conducted by Rabbi Joshua
Sperka and Cantor Hyman Adler.

lief supplies contributed to the
Joint Distribution Committee's
SOS Collection (Supplies for Ov-
erseas Survivors) were shipped
from New York on the SS Sea
Nymph and SS Louisa M. Alcott
headed for Austria, Czechoslova-
kia, Hungary, France, Germany
and Yugoslavia, where they will
be distributed among the Jewisn
survivors by JDC representatives
stationed in Europe.
Approximately 438,600 pounds of
the supplies shipped were food-
stuffs; the balance clothing. This
is the fourth substantial shipment
of SOS supplies contributed by
Jewish communities in 525 cities
throughout the country.
Foodstuffs, clothing, comfort it
ems for daily use and household
articles are sought in the national
SOS Collection, emergency project
of the Joint Distribution Commit-
tee to collect 20.000,000 pounds of
contributed supp'.0s to supplement
Its regular relief programs among
the nearly 1,500,000 Jewish surviv-
ors overseas. The Joint Distribu-
tion Committee receives its funds
from the United Jewish Appeal.
