infected children are placed with
healthy groups, X-ray examina-
tions are given by doctors to
every child the moment he en-
ters Palestine. Tubercular cases
are promptly separated from the
uninfected and sent to sanitoria.
Most lung patients are slated for
Mekor Haim Sanitorium on the
outskirts of Jerusalem. Others go
to WIZO Hadassah institutions,
where, in addition to expert medi-
cal care, they receive instruction
under the guidance of special
Madrichim (leader-instructor).
For the creation of healthy
bodies and healthy minds is one
of the chief goals set in the
Youth Aliyah rehabilitation pro-
gram. Since the upbuilding of
Palestine is an arduous task which
requires physically fit pioneers,
Youth Aliyah workers know that
physical resurgence is intimately
joined to psychological well-being.
They have confidence founded on
experience that in Palestine the
effort is easier, going on as it
does against the background of
the Yishuv's great eagerness to
help.
In the last decade Youth Ali-
yah has rescued from Europe and
transferred to Palestine over 17,-
060 Jewish children. As the offi-
cial representative of Youth Ali-
yah in the United States, Hadas-
sah has already sent $615,000 for
the maintenance and education of
children brought to the Holy
Land this year. In the past 10
years the organization has con-
tributed a total of nearly $7,-
000,000 for the support of these
children. It has pledged itself to
provide $1,000,000 more by Sep-
tember 30th.

One of the largest audiences in

history packed the Center audito-
rium for the 12th annual meeting
of the Jewish Community Center
March 27.
Following a report by Mr. Ed-
ward Kahn, chairman of the
Nominating Committee, the fol-
lowing Board members were
elected to serve for a three-year
term: Dr. Harry A. August, Mrs.
H. C. Broder, Oscar A. Kaufman,
Jay Rosenshine, Samual H. Ru-
biner, Emil T. Stern, Mrs. Leo-
nard H. Weiner and Ben F. Wig-
der.
'High tribute was paid to Her-
man Jacobs, executive director,
in recognition of his services to
the Jewish Community and to
the Center during the past dec-
ade. Mr. Jacobs assumed his post
here on February 3, 1936.

Minstrel Show

The Center's Cub Pack 369 will
hold its fourth annual minstrel
show on Sunday, April 28. Re-
hearsals take place every Tues-
day evening at the McCulloch
School under the direction of
Merton Ertz. Cub Pack commit-
tee chairman, Julius Pliskow,
claims that this year's show
should be the best ever held by
the Cub Scouts.
