"White Paper" Policy Enforced in
Palestine Follows Path of Evil

people, through an act of Con-
gress, gave its approval to the
Balfour Declaration. Winston
Churchill, whose prophetic vision
stirred Britain into vigilance, was
growing in political stature. His
voice had thundered over and
again against the injustices of the
White Paper. If a war came there
would be a coalition Cabinet in
England in which tho Labor Par-
ty, whose members in Parliament
denounced the Chamberlain White
Paper, would play a prominent
role. If a war came, England
would remember the Jewish Le-
gion of World War I England
would also remember the treach-
erous role of the Arab leaders
who openly played ball with the
Nazis.
There was hope.
Then the hand of death struck
Europe. With the invasion of Po-
land it was becoming sadly, tragi-
cally apparent that Hitler had in-
structed his invading armies to
totally exterminate the Jews in
the conquered countries. What
Jewry throughout t h e world
feared became a tragic reality.

against the doors of Palestine.
The war ended. As the curtain
lifted over the scene of death and

POLICIES CONTROL
But British policies evidently
still stand above British prom-
ises. Although months have pass-
ed since the new British Labor
Government has assumed office,
no step has been taken toward
righting the grievous wrong. In
fact, the British Cabinet, acting
on the recommendations of one
of its sub-committees and on the

recommendations submitted by
the recent conference in London
of British diplomats in the Mid-
dle East, has decided to reject
the Jewish Agency's demand for
the admission of 100,000 Jews
into Palestine. True, the action of
the Cabinet, in the face of Presi-
dent Truman's letter to Pri
Minister Attlee, has create'
situation whose repercussions'
unpredictable. But the fact,'
tragic fact still is—the doors of
Palestine are as tightly shut as
before. The White Paper, casting
its black shadow, still stands. The
path of evil is still being followed.
