Round 'n' Round the Town

With Phil Rothschild

It's very touching to the heart
to get such gracious letters of
thanks and encouragement from
my loyal readers on my initial
column. The mail and phone calls
have been tremendously heavy, of-
fering me felicitations.
It's impossible to reprint all of
the letters, but just for apprecia-
tion I'll copy a few. Frinstance —
"Leave town fast and don't come
back," signed by the Vigilantes. . .
That's an odd name to sign to a
good-will message.
Here's another that's interesting
"The Detroit River is close by
.. jump in!" This one was signed
by The Danny Raskin Bobby Sox
Fans.
To all of "youse" who have been
so kind to send me wishes, my
heartfelt thanks... Now, for some
news as the space allows.

A typical group of convalescents at the Percy Jones Hospital at a
recent special party made possible thru the efforts of Bnai Brith.
Reports come from Marcella Steuben, president of the Michigan Wo-
men's Council of Mutt Brith and Lee Greenglick, Hospital Chairman,

that the pleasure the boys derive from these affairs and the value
CV as morale builders so far exceeds the cost and effort. However, most
of the effort and financial help thus far has come from the small
towns around Battle Creek, like Kalamazoo, Benton Harbor, etc. A
special plea is made to the Lodges and Auxiliaries to get together to
make more such affairs possible. In hospital chairmen, get busy! Let's
try to help these boys forget even for a brief period that they are
minus some portion and in most eases a very vital portion of their
bodies.

DETROIT JEWISH CHRONICLE and The Legal Chronicle

A NEW NOSII .. .
Have you ever tasted BORCHT-
ICLES? Well you will when you
drop over to the apt. of the Bill
Gilberts (Miriam Kassel) on Bos-
ton Blvd. any Sunday afternoon.
(And I'm advertising this yet —
for this I'll probably get a club
on the bean next time I drop in
. . anyway — the demand is so
great for these tasty treats that
the Gilberts are seriously thinging
of offering stock in their new
enterprise and puttin' it on the
market. The boys and goils aren't
satisfied with their share .. they
take a few home for the folks . .
even Joe Sudy, Hotel Statler ork
leader, who was over last Sun-
day, insisted that he be given
enough for all the boys in the
band.
It's really kind of the Gilberts
to give over their 1 and three
quarter room love nest as open
house so "us" vets who don't know
anyone 'round town can get to-
gether and meet all the beauts
and find out who's going with
who and why and what's the
right thing to wear for the com-
ing week. .. Invite to get in? ..
Nah, just use that story, "I'm
lookin' for my dog."
