born and raised in the city of Boston where he rompleted
his schooling. He served during World War I in the Mesi-
real Corps of the Yankee Division,
Mr. Swartz had been living with his family in Detroit
for the past fifteen years and was employe4 with the 15, IS,
Immigration and Naturalization Bureau. At the time of his
death he was Commander of the Border S•rvice Post of
the Veterans of Foreign Wars and also Commander of
the Lawrence H. Jones Post No. 190 of the Jewish War
Veterans. He also served with these organizations in vari-
ous other capacities. lie organized and directed the first
Non ,Sectarian Memorial Bervice for War Veterans a
World War II at St. Paul's Cathedral on Woodward Avs.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Fred, who has 'art
been released from the army, a daughter, Mrs. frvin4
Ron, and another son, Richard,
Funeral services were held at Lewis Bros, with mili-
tary arrangements conducted both by the Jewish War
Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Interment
was at Machpelah Cemetery,
