The Junior Congregation of the
Northwest Hebrew Congregation
and Center conducted its first
Sabbath services on Saturday,
Feb. 9, under the guidance of
Max H. Goldsmith, first vice pres-
ident of the Congregation. After
their services were completed to
the Musaph portion, the children
all returned to the main prayer
room in the Bagley School where
they joined their elders in the
chanting of the Musaph prayers.
The community is invited to
Sabbath services conducted every
Friday night and Saturday morn-
ing at the Bagley School by the
Congregation.
On Saturday, Feb. ,23, Master
Lubin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ar-
thur Lubin, of 17520 Santa Rosa,
will celebrate his Bar Mitzvah,
and will chant the traditional
Hophtorah prayers as well as
speak to the Congregation on the
event of his coming of age.

The Council of Orthodox Rab-
bis - Vaad Harabonim wishes to
announce to the Detroit Jewish
Community that at present there
is only one kosher restaurant in
the city. This kosher restaurant
is under the complete supervision
of the Vaad Harabonim. All food
and meals are prepared in strict
conformity with the law of kash-
ruth. This restaurant is known
as Fenkel's Kosher Restaurant
and is located on Linwood and
Taylor. All other restaurants ad-
vertising as kosher or kosher
style are to be treated as terefoh
restaurants.
The following kosher catering
establishments are under the'su-
pervisiof the Council of Ortho-
dox Rabbis. The Rabbis engaged
a Mashgiach-supervisor who has
full access to these catering places
and visits daily and supervises all
functions held in these catering
companies. At present Lachar's
Kosher Catering Co., Moss Kosher
Catering Co. and Rosenberg's Ko-
sher Catering Co. (formerly Per-
eira's) have complete supervision
from the Vaad Harabonim.
