One of Europe's destitute Jews,
living in a former concentration
camp in Germany or Austria, or
struggling to begin his life again
in Yugoslavia or Czechoslovakia,
will soon be wearing a hat, a suit,
or perhaps an overcoat formerly
worn by Dr. Chaim Weizmann,
president of the Jewish Agency
for Palestine.

The four were arrested and
entire community was outraged.
Here the Institute was given the
go-ahead signal by the mayor of
New York and, according to Ep-
stein, the results were full of pos-
sibilities.

Study Community

The Institute committee studied
the community. They sent
Jews to talk to Jews, Italians to
talk to Italians and then made
a complete analysis of the "gripes,"
complaints, needs and wants. They
studied 230 families. Then they
compared results and made rec-
ommendations. The charges were
withdrawn against the four Italian
youths and two of them became
most active in inter-faith work on
a community level, in fact, becom-
ing two of the most active battlers
against anti-Semitism.
The Institute can train workers
readily to go into communities
where they are invited. They go
to the groups that need indoc-
trination the most and work on
them. Two groups that need the
most education because they can
do the most good are the school
'eachers and the police.

Scientific Laboratory Basis

The thought of putting the
teaching and practice of democ-
racy on a scientific laboratory
basis opens tremendous vistas of
the ending of all minority hatreds.
Of course, Epstein emphasized,
all was still in the experimental
stage. Enough has been done,
however, to give rise to hope that
one day, anti-Semitism would not
appear on the scene in this coun-
try.
"If the Jew is wiped out," he
concluded, "then his epitaph might
well be the two lines, 'Here died
the Jew, here died democracy."

ND this little puppy had none:
It's too bad that Rover will miss
his dinner, but unfortunately there just
isn't room for one more. And many
people don't realize that one appliance
too many on a circuit is the cause of
that troublesome blown fuse. Now
that all those labor-saving electrical
appliances are coming hack on the
market, it's doubly important that your
home be provided with enough cir-
cuits, switches and wall outlets for a I I
the electrical servants you will use.
Almost any of the older homes of
today arc likely to have too few elec-
trical circuits to carry the may
electrical appliances needed in today's
living. Your home should accommo-
date that new electric dishwasher,
frozen-food unit, automatic laundry,
and the many other electrical appli-
itfiCtts that will make living more
pleasant and easier 111 your bunk of
tomorrow. And, of course, if you it r
