SUBIA — DREIFUS
The marriage of Miss Bettina
Dreifuss and John Walford Subia
was quietly solemnized on Wed-
nesday, Jan. 9 at the home of the
bride's parents, Mr. and Mr:.
Maurice Dreifuss of Indiana Ave.
Rabbi B. Benedict Glazer officiated
at the ceremony. Mr. Subia, son of
Mrs. Laurette Subia of Royal Oak,
had Max Ungar as his best man,
and Miss Marcia Glasser, who was
Miss Dreifuss's roommate at
M.S.C. acted as maid of honor.
The young couple will reside tem-
rorarily on Indiana Ave., after
their return from a wedding trip.

BRITMAN — SHAPIRO
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shapiro of
Cortland Avenue announce the
marriage of their daughter, Syl-
via Shirley to Ben Britman, son
of Mr. and Mrs. J. Britman of
Broadstreet Blvd.
The ceremony took place on Sun-
day, Jan. 6 at the Hotel Belcrest.
The bride who was given in mar-
riage by her father, Paul Shapiro,
wore a gown of heavy bridal
satin fashioned with chantilly
lace. The long skirt extended into
a circular train. Her fingertip
veil was held in place by a cluster
of flowers. She carried a white
bible showered with white orchids.
She also wore a string of pearls
on her throat.
Dinner followed the ceremony
and later in the evening there was
a reception for 150 guests and
dancing followed.
The newlyweds have left for a
trip to New York and will make
their home in Detroit.

HOFF — DATER
Miss Sara Dater, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. M. Rothstein and
Morris Hoff, were married Sun-
day afternoon, Jan. 13 at 1:00
o'clock at Rosenberg's. A dinner
followed. The Rev. H. Schulsinger
performed the ceremony.
The bride wore a white satin
gown and a full length rosepointe
veil and carried a cascade bouquet
of white gardenias and carnations.
Zelda Greenberg attended the bride
as maid of honor and best man
was Sam Hoff, brother of the
bridegroom. After their wedding,
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Hoff left by
plane for New York.

Mr. and Mrs. Juda Lacher, of 2454 Blaine Ave., recently announced
the engagement of their daughter, Dorothy, to Josef H. Horowitz, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Elia Horowitz, of 2032 Gladstone Ave. The engage-

The bride wore a traditional white satin gown, with a fitted bodice,
sweetheart neckline, and a scalloped front panel, with long, tight
sleeves. Her cap and long veil were of Duchess lace, and she carried
a corsage of white orchids and scattered carnations.
The maid of honor, Miss Sue Jacob, of Chicago, wore a lemon yel-
low taffeta gown, plumed head dress and carried deep red American
Beauty roses. The bridesmaids wore identical gowns in ice blue taf-
feta with matching plumed head dresses and carried pale pink roses.
They included the Misses C. Davidson, M. Koblin, L. Goldenberg and
E. Abramovitz.

H. Liebling, of Montreal, performed the duties of best man, and
the ushers included L. Levine, A. Schmier, M. Miro of Montreal, and
Lieut. M. Keller of New York.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Abel chose a gold beaded cameo
pink gown, and the groom's mother wore a sequin-trimmed maroon
gown. Dinner and dancing followed for 200 guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Freedlander left for their honeymoon to New York
and the Laurentian Mountains, after which they will take up resi-
dence in Montreal.

the scene of the marriage of Miss Shirley Mae Abel, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Abel, of Greenlawn Ave., to Mortimer Freedlander, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Freedlander, of Montreal, Quebec. The candle-
light ceremony was performed by Dr. A. M. Hershman. Mr. Abel gave
