NEW YORK CITY (WNS)—A
candidate for naturalization was
refused United States citizenship
at the Rockland County Court-
house, because she was accused of
having made statements in public
subversive to the government of
the United States.
When Mrs. Anna Keimig, whose
husband Carl became a citizen in
1940, was called up to he sworn in,
Mannis Neumann of 1322 East
Tenth Street, Brooklyn, United
States Naturalization Examiner,
raised an objection. He claimed
that Mrs. Keimig had made sub-
versive statements about the gov-
ernment of the United States and
asked the judge to deny her ap-
plication.

Mr. Neumann said he had sworn
statements by vf:anesses to prove
that on various dates Mrs. Keimig
h ad made the following remarks:
"President Roosevelt's name is not
Roosevelt--but Rosenfeld."
"Hitler ought to come over herr
—he would do a lot of good things
to Jews."

"American boys do not make
good soldiers---the Germans are
superior fighters."
"Hitler was right."
Mrs. Keimig denied having made
any of these statements.
Judge Patterson directed Mr.
Neumann to name the witnesses
against Mrs. Keimig, and the ex-
aminer reported that Olga and
Richard Bauman. who live in the
Yorkville neighborhood of New
York City, and two residents of
Rockland County who couldn't be
named because he had promised
them secrecy, were the informants.
Judge Patterson, after hesita-
tion, denied Mrs. Keimig citizen-
ship without calling any of the
witnesses to court.
