Hayett Starts Reports
On The Crimes Trials

(Ed. Note: Last month, Irving Hayett went to Frankfurt, Ger-

to report the War Crimes Trials to be held at Frankfurt. He agreed
to furnish the Chronicle with detailed reports on the trials. These
articles will appear weekly.)

Spanish Jews To
Be Freed Front
Religious Arrest

MADRID (WNS) — Blas Perez
Gonzales, Minister of the Interior,
declared here that the cases of all
Jews kept under arrest or in con-
centration camps in Spain will be
sifted by the Spanish Govern-
ment.
The Minister made the state-
ment following a conference with
Isaac Weissman, representative of
the World Jewish Congress, at
which the Jewish leader complain-
ed that many Jews were being
detained in Spain for no other
reason than their religion.
At the same time Mr. Weissman
was assured by the Minister of
the Interior that the Cabinet
would consider a claim for about
840,000 for damage done to the
Barcelona Synagogue during the
civil war, and that the synagogue
would be allowed to reopen soon.
All synagogues in Spain had been
shut down since 1939.

A Picture of Nazi "Bravery"

But for the grace of
God, the little boy in
this picture might have
been your own little one.
This is a picture shown%
at the Nuremberg trials,
a picture of the Nazi
beasts in action.
This little boy knew
nothing of Nazi ideol-
ogy. Ile knew nothing
of the doctrine of the
Superman. But he did
know what an extermi-
nation camp was. Ile
did know that he was
afraid, so terribly afraid
that he could not even
cry, •4

peal, which secured this

lion dollars to rescue
what remains of Euro-
pean Jewry.
Take a look at this lit-
tle boy. Look at his spin-
dling legs. Look at the
terror frozen on his face.
Then look at your own
little boy. And when you
compare the two, decide
what you will give.

The Trip Abroad
I left Detroit on Dec. 13 at 5:30 p.m., on what, for me, was to be
the longest journey I have ever taken. Upon arrival in Washington
on Friday, Dec. 14, I reported di-
rectly to the Pentagon Building.
My papers were in order and I
was told to report to the Air
Transport Command (ATC) Field
in Washington.
There I was given a short brief-
ing on the flight. I was told about
