Halevy Singing Society Hadassah Ends Fund

MANY DETRO1TERS HONORED
Practically everyone on the
campus has started this new year
with resolutions or promises. A
few have even made pledges. In
the Phi Sigma Delta fraternity,
Detroiter Barry Cohen is one of
the new pledges, while the Sigma
Alpha Mu fraternity has pledged
localites Jerry Goran, Dick Lurie
and Dan Gilbert. The Zeta Beta
Tau fraternity has in its new
pledge group Hubert Goldman,
James Ginn, Ronnie Goldman,
Jarvis Franzblau and Sheldon
Fellman, all from Detroit .
When the University Women's
Glee Club published its list of new
members, Joyce Katz, a Detroiter,
was one of those numbered.

liam Klein, who is also chairman
of the Building Committee, is
sponsoring a series of programs
and gatherings, with the special
purpose of obtaining Life, Patron,
and Asociate members for the
Halevy.
The series began with presenta-
tions on two Altman radio pro-
grams featuring Shirley Zaft and
Bella Goldberg as vocal soloists,
with Dr. Klein as speaker. Parties
for Halevy members were held at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam
Rubin on December 28, and at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Max Levy
on Jan. 12. A special program was
given at a meeting of the Arlaza-
roff branch of the J.N.W.A. on
January 2, at which William Cay-
man sang, acompanied by Bella
Goldberg.
Shirley Schwartz has been elect-
ed president of Cercle Francais,
the French club on the University
campus, while Dave Brodman has
been chosen treasurer. The club is
sponsoring seven lectures and the
annual French play.
The Halevy chorus rehearses ev-
ery Tuesday from 9 to 11 p.m. in
the Roosevelt School under the
guidance of Dan Frohman, Musi-

Discussions were held in the Un-

ter of AVC. Vic, a university stu-
dent originally from Detroit, was
selected by Franklin D. Roosevelt
Jr., earlier this semester to be a
member of the National Housing
Committee. Vic is also a member
of the Bnai Brith Hillel Council
on campus. This group, incidental-
ly, is headed by President Betty
Korash, from Detroit, who was re-
cently tapped for Senior Society.

Fabian To Entertain
Young Israel Boys
The Detroit Police Department
praised the traffic control work
of the Men's Club Committee un-
der the leadership of Louis Mill-
man.
Mr. Millman was cited for his
commendable efforts during Sun-
day School hours of Temple Is-
rael at the Hampton School. No
complaints have been received
from the neighborhood, nor has
there been any accident of any
kind in the history of the Sun-
day School.
