Rabbi Saul Teplitz
Conducts Services at
Northwest Synagogue

The Northwest Hebrew Con-
gregation and Center is having
as its guest rabbi this weekend
Rabbi Saul Teplitz. Rabbi Tep-
litz is a graduate of the Jewish
Theological Seminary, and an
honor graduate of the Univer-
sity of Pittsburgh and the He-
brew Institute of Pittsburgh. He
has officiated in Laurelton, Long
Island.
The building committee of the
congregation, under the chair-
manship of J. Maurice Karo, and
composed of members Philip Helf-
man, D. M. LeVine, Chas. Char-
lip and David Safran, has receiv-
ed bids from contractors for the
building of the first wing of the
Synagogue.
The president of the syna-
gogue, Ira G. Kaufman, has met
with the Junior Congregation and
Youth Group leaders, Robert Hai-
dy, Morry Fineman, Marty Fine-
man and Sidney Lutz, who laid
plans for the operation of the
Youth Group and the Junior Con-
gregation. Bernard Jaffe is the
youth leader. Max H. Goldsmith,
1st vice president of the syna-
gogue, will lead the Junior Con-
gregation services.
Mr. Kaufman also has sched-
uled meetings with the fund rais-
ing committee, under the co-
chairmanship of Nathan Epstein
and Adolph H. Lichter, as well
as with the various other com-
mittees of the synagogue.
The Sabbath services of the
synagogue held at the Bagley
School, Curtis and Roselawn,
have shown such an increase in
attendance that it will be neces-
sary for the Congregation to hold
services in the auditorium,
The Sunday School has more
than 200 pupils. The Religious
School is composed of Max H.
Goldsmith, Allan L. Waller, Ben-
jamin Brodman and Chas. Char-
lip. The staff of teachers is under
the directorship of Allen A. War-
sen.

Installation and Dance
Saturday Night Feature

The Rosenwald Post 218, Am-
erican Legion, will hold its Vic-
tory installation and dance at the
Bnai Moshe Hall, Dexter at Law-
rence, at 8:30 p.m., this Satur-
day.
World War H Veterans elect-
ed were: Max Ornstein, com-
mander, 2nd term; Bernard Zip-
se•, senior vice-president, 2nd
term; Edward Hoffman, junior
vice, and Nathan Minkoff, adju-
tant.
World War I veterans elected
were: Irving Cohen, finance of-
ficer; Dr. R. R. Goldstone, chap-
lain; Albert Curtis, historian, and
David Goldberg, sergeant-at-arms.
The 40 and 8 ritual team of
the American Legion will install
the officers. The guest speaker
will be Dr. B. Benedict Glazer,
rabbi of Temple Beth El.
Commander Max Ornstein in-
vites all discharged veterans, men
and women to be the guests of
the Rosenwald Post at the in-
stallation.
Joseph Shapiro, Americaniza-
tion officer, is in charge of in-
stallation arrangements. Follow-
ing the installation, refreshments
will be served and there will be
dancing.
