The Kol Nidre services will be- gin at 6 o'clock Sunday evening The Pioneer Women's Organi- zation Council at its first office committee meeting of the season outlined activities for the year. It aims to help in the postwar ex- pansion program of its sister or- ganization, the Working Women's Council in Palestine. According to reports from the Working Women's Council in Pal- estine, work has begun on the erection of 25 homes, to accom- modate refugee children and young people coming from Europe and Middle Eastern countries. A number of important proj- ects are being planned by the lo- cal Pioneer Women Chapters. The first and major affair, the 15th An- nual Donor Event, will take place on Jan. 8, 1946, at the Masonic Temple Auditorium. All chapters are now resuming their regular meeting schedule. The first general open meeting and pep rally is scheduled for Monday evening, Oct. 1, at the Rose-Sittig Cohen Building, Law- ton at Waverly. Kol Nidre (Eve of Atonement) at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue will be held at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16. Cantor J. H. Sonenklar and a male choir will chant the traditional and beautiful Kol Nid- re melodies. Services on the Day of Atone- ment (Yom Kippur) will begin at 9 a.m. There will be five sep- arate services. Adult services will be held in the Main Auditorium and Social Hall. Junior services will be held for boys and girls 12 years of age and older. Sep- arate children's services will be held for children from 10 to 12 and for those under 10. Rabbi Alexander Burnstein of New York is assisting Dr. A. M. Hershman. Services for Succoth (Tabernac- les) will be held at 6:30 p.m. next Friday, Sept. 21, and at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22 and 23. Tabernacles is celebrated for nine days and will conclude on Sunday, Sept. 30, with the Festival of the Rejoicing of the Law. Succoth, or Tabernacles, is the Hebrew Harvest and Thanksgiv- ing Festival. Some Orthodox Jews and all synagogues will erect booths to commemorate the tents in which their ancestors in Pal- estine dwelt. RABBI A. E. MILLGRAM and the morning services will be- gin at 8 o'clock Monday morning. Rabbi Abraham E. Millgram will conduct the services and Cantor Nathan Lander will chant the tra- ditional Hebrew prayers. Foreign Relatives Seek Detroiters Soldiers Accept Free Membership In Young Israel Membership applications from Jewish servicemen in all parts of the globe have poured into the Young Israel office in answer to a letter sent to the servicemen and women by Charles T. Gell- man, president of Young Israel, offering them free membership in the organization upon their return to civilian life. Many applications from veterans, to whom the same invitation was extended, were al- so received. Young Israel's offer was an- nounced during the High Holy Days in many of the synagogues. Parents of servicemen were in- vited to submit the names of their children to the organization so that the membership applica- tion might be sent to them. Eva Prenzlauer Aid To Meet Tuesday The first meeting of the season of the Eva Prenzlauer Maternity Aid will be held at the home of Mrs. Fanny Strauss, 3777 Sturte- vant, at 1 p.m. Sept. 18. Committees will be appointed for the annual donor luncheon which will take place on Dec. 17, at the Book-Cadillac Hotel.
