The Vaad Hatzalah, which has sought to raise $15,000 in Detroit to carry on its work among the Jewish war victims in Europe, is combining its cam- ptign with the drive instituted here by Rabbi Lewin for funds to aid in bringing Jewish war or- phans to Palestine. The Detroit Jewish community will honor Rabbi Lewin, who is the son-in-law of the famed Gerer Rabbi, at a dinner to be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Jewish Community Center. Rabbi Leo Jung of New York, one of the leaders of Orthodox Judaism in America, will come to Detroit to introduce Rabbi Lewin, who will tell the real story of the heroism of Polish Jewry.
