Liberated Jews
Hope to Emigrate

INSBRUCK (WNS) —Dr. Men-
delssohn - Fisher, great - grandson
of the famous composer and for-
mer teacher of history at the Uni-
versity of Warsaw, this week told
American press correspondents
that the major hope entertained
by the 2,000 liberated Jews in this
area is to emigrate either to Pal-
estine or the United States.
Shortly after the outbreak of
the war, Dr. Mendelssohn-Fischer
was deported from Warsaw to
Lublin and thence to the Treblin-
Ica death camp. He escaped from
the notorious ' death camp and,
posing as a non-Jew, he worked
tr: a porter in a factory in Vien-
na.
Before the war there were about
404 Jewish families in Insbruck.
At present there are only 30 left,
including those who returned to
their homes since the end of the
war.
