it is more important to give money to a private business
which is being run for profit than it is tohelp the or-

highways of war-torn Europe.

It is time that the Jewish community put a stop to
such practices. It is time that the 24,000 Jewish con-
tributors to the Welfare Fund notify Isidore Sobeloff,
who runs the Federation, that such a subsidy is a per-
version of the meaning of charity and that it is more
important that we aid the Jewish survivors in Europe
or build up the Jewish commonwealth in Palestine than
it is to subsidize a business and to swell the profits of
a private enterprise.
The Executive Committee of the Federation will vote
on this matter next week, i.e., whether holy funds which
were contributed BY YOU should be spent BY THEM
to build up the Jewish News. We know that the great
mass of contributors to the Welfare Fund and to the
Jewish Welfare Federation have no knowledge of
what's been going on behind the scenes with their con-
tributions. Did you know that nearly . $20,000 of your
charity funds has already been spent by Sobeloff, et al.,
to build up the Jewish News?
In next week's issue we shall give you some samples
of "ethics in journalism," as practiced by the Jewish
News, which have been attained through the perversion of
charity funds.

Zionist Goals
MRS. SIDNEY J. ALLEN
nese delegate, who was a recent
convert to Christianity, declared
he felt a special kinship to
the Jewish people.
Dr. Goldstein quoted him as
saying: "I look upon you as.
my spiritual brothers. Justice
must be done to your people.
My study of history has shown
that those people who perse-
cute you come to ruin, while
those who befriend you flourish.
In my prayers to Mother Mary
last night I said 'Mother Mary,
your relatives are coming to
see me today.' "
The speaker also stated that
the passage of the Human Rights
Declarations was a gain for
Jewry.
"While the Zionist movement
has won friends in many parts
of the world," said Dr. Goldstein,
"we must not overestimate what
happened in San Francisco. We
are back to the White paper, back
to the status quo ante. There is
no sign of the Jewish Common-
wealth in the offing. V-E Day has
not brought victory to the . rem-
nants of Jewry in Europe.
Prejudice Rampant
"Anti-Semitism is rampant in
Poland, Hungary, Romania and
even in France. Return of prop-
erties seized from the Jews is
accompanied by disorders and an-
ti-Semitism has become a vested
interest. The future for the
1,250,000 Jews left in Europe is
not bright if the situation does
not improve. The Jews in Europe
lost the war.
"Don't be misled by general
formulas of Human Rights. While
it is important to have these dec-
larations it may be decades be-

is achieved. In the meantime our
people perish. Only in Palestine

program of Zionism is pertaining
to Palestine and foreign affairs
as follows:
"Remind our State Department
that it should square its policies
with the almost unanimous de-
sires of the American people. If
the American stand is strong
enough it will have an effect on
the British government.
"Appeal to United Nations

ing of Palestine. We are entitled
to reparations. If owners of con-
fiscated property are not alive
the property should be turned
over to the Jewish Agency.
On the domestic front Dr.
Goldstein listed these aims:
"Continue job of educating
Jews and non-Jews about the
aims and goals of Zionism.
"Enlarge membership of the
Zionist Organization.
"Increased funds for Palestine
and the institutions there."
Rabbi Leon Frain introduced
