anti-Semites as an excuse for
attacking them on the ground of
being German nationals.
Dr. Rosenberg disclosed that,
while a deputy in the Slovak Na-
tional Assembly, he proposed
laws abolishing anti-Jewish laws,
but that his proposals were re-
jected by some members of the
Slovak government on the ground
that they did not want "the re-
turn of Jewish capitalists. He
said despite the large extent to
which Jews participated in the
underground movement, there is
still a strong undercurrent
against Jews even among former
underground members. One Jew-
ish partisan, he said, was so dis-
gusted of the situation that he
said, "I must leave this country.
I cannot live in such an anti-
Semitic atmosphere."
