—The trusteeship commit- day, June 3. Representatives from
tee of the United Nations
Conference adopted this
week, without a dissenting
vote, the proposal of the
Egyptian delegates provid-
ing for joint trusteeships
over certain territories by
more than one state.

Should the Egyptian amend-
ment be approved by the general
session of the conference it
would mean that Egypt, or any
other Arab state, would later
have the right to petition the
world security organization to
allow it to participate in the
trusteeship over Palestine with
Great Britain.
Russia's insistence on the elim-
ination of the so-called "Pales-
tine clause" from the trusteeship
proposals continued to hold the
attention of the Soviet, Ameri-
can and British delegations. But
the hope was held out that a
compromise would be reached on
the wording of the amendment.
Russian opposition to paragraph
five of the trusteeship proposals,
the so-called Palestine clause, is
said to be based on the conten-
tion that it might be interpreted

15,000 Czech
Jews Survive
Out of 350,000

PRAGUE (WNS). — Of the
350,000 Jews who lived in this
country prior to the war, only
15,000 survived the German oc-
cupation, it was disclosed here
in a press interview by Dr. In-
rich Rosenberg, deputy chief of
the repatriation department of
the Czechoslovak Government.
Dr. Rosenberg asserted that
Jews returning to Czechoslovakia
have been encountering great
hostility. Many Czechs, he said,
are surprised that so many Jews
were still alive after having been
told by the Nazis that all the
Jews in Europe had been exter-
minated. Others are upset by the
prospect of having to return con-
fiscated Jewish property and • of
relinquishing jobs formerly held
by Jews.
The situation in Prague is par-
ticularly complicated. Nearly 10,-
000 Jews have wandered in from
slave labor camps hoping to pick
oP news of their kin. Most of
them are German and Polish
Jews. The presence of so many
German Jews has been used by
