Additional lists of Jewish sur-
vivors have been received by the
Jewish Social Service Bureau
from the World Jewish Congress
Telegraphic
an d the Jewish
Agency. These lists contain 1853
names of Jewish deportees liber-
ated from the Buchenwald Con-
centration Camp, 1126 survivors
i n several towns in Volyn, and
200 names of Jews from other
places.
The lists contain the following
names of Detroit relatives:
Israel Hermelik, sought by Da-
vid Kupferwasser, age 41, of
Lodz.
Philip Keifer and Herma Et-
tinger, sought by Mendel Ettin
ger, age 18, of Bochina.
Landgarten, sought by Hersz
Landgarten of Sandomierz.
Henry Popper, sought by Vik-
tor Popper, age 30, of Ban-
Bystrica.
Hersch Simkovitz, sought by
Meier Peses, age 18, of Lodz.
Eduard Tonn, sought by Jos-
eph Stern, age 16, of Beled.
A brother, sought by Helene
Pinska of Poland.
The lists may be consulted at
the office of the Jewish Social
Service Bureau, Monday through
Friday, from 8:30 a. m. to 4 p. m.

Lt. Irving Levin, 23, former
Detroiter, is visiting his uncle,
Morris Levin, 111 Highland Ave.
Lt. Levin is on a 30-day fur-
lough, having completed his quo-
ta of air missions over Germany.
Recently he was awarded the
Distinguished Flying Cross for
extraordinary achievement while
serving as bombardier on a B-17
during a mission to Ludwigsha-
fen, Germany.
Lt. Levin is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Isadore Levin, who
lived in Detroit for years but
are now residing in Chicago.

The annual election meeting
of the United Hebrew Schools
will be held at 8:30 p. m. Mon-
day, June 26, in the Rose Sittig
Cohen Auditorium. All members
of the United Hebrew Schools
are invited.
The present officers are: Ru-
dolph Zuieback, president; Law-
rence W. Crohn, vice president;
Dr. A. E. Bernstein, vice presi-
dent; Abe Kasle, treasurer, and
Aaron A. Silberblatt, secretary.

Speakers Club
Holds Annual Banquet

The Speakers Club, one of the
oldest adult activities at the Jew-
ish Center, held its annual ban-
quet at the Belcrest Hotel, May
26th.
An unusual program was plan-
ned in honor of E. F. Emrich
who has served as director for
four years.
The invocation was given by
Nathan L. Pavis. The program
was directed by Mrs. Miriam
Slobin, and the toastmaster was
Louis J. Small.
The evening was highlighted
by original speeches in prose
and verse by the members, vo-
cal selections in honor of the
newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Louis
J. Slotter, were rendered by
Mrs. Helen Lehr. Dancing and
community singing concluded the
entertainment.
The Speakers Club will resume
its meetings in September.
