CAPITOL LETTER
Leon Blum Plans
To Visit Plaestine
MOSCOW (WNS). --- Reports
coming front Warsaw tell that
the Polish Provisional Govern-
ment will let Jews under the
jurisdiction emigrate to Pales-
tine in small groups.
An application for a number
of Palestine visas fur Polish Jews
has already been made by Dr.
Emil Sonunerstein, leader of the
Central Jewish Committee in Po-
land. These are expected to be
sent tc the Polish ambassador
here, for transmission to Jew-
ish leaders in Poland.
Dr. S. Sfard, representative of
the Association of Polish Jews
in the USSR, declared that in-
creased aid was necessary in
view of the fact that many Po-
lish Jews are returning from So-
viet Russia to their homes in
Poland.
Dr. Sfard said that there are
only 50,000 Jews in Poland. The
majority of the repatriated Jews,
he said, have no relatives left
alive in Poland. He disclosed that
four transports of clothing and
medicaments had been received
from the Joint Distribution Com-
mittee and other relief organiza-
tions.
