Quoting the preamble of our JWV consti-

tends to impair the permanency of our free in-

rights and full justice to all men; to combat the
powers of bigotry and darkness wherever origi-

ment has been the wholehearted and untiring support we have received from

"If a nation values anything more than free-
dom, it will lose its freedom; and the irony of it
is that if it is comfort or money that it values
more, it will lose that too."

"The Jewish War Veterans of the United States, the second in point of
age among existing American veterans' organizations, in peace and ill war over
the forty-eight years since it was founded, has lived up to the highest traditions
of loyalty and service. Its avowed aims are a challenge to prejudice of all
kinds as well as a pledge of continued devoted service to God and Country."

We will "carry on" in this patriotic service,
vital to all American families, of this you can
be certain!

State Commander Department of Ali

The Department of Michigan, JWV, has voted to
raise a fund of $25Q,000 among our own mem-
bers towards acquistion of a home. With this fund
in hand we propose to ask the general community
to double or treble it. We will aim to make this a
truly Memorial Home, dedicated to the memory of
the brave, gallant Jewish boys from Detroit, like
Capt. Ruben Iden and Lt. Raymond Zussman, who
have fallen in battle and to those others who will
make the supreme sacrifice and to the spirit of loy-
alty and patriotism of all men of our faith in

Men and - women everywhere in the United
States should share in the patriotic work of the
Jewish War Veterans of the United States. Our
nation-wide program can only be realized
through the unstinting support of all patriotic
Americans of Jewish faith. Your duty is a privi-
lege, accept it now!

JWV has rendered 49 years of patriotic
service since it was founded in 1896. We invite
every American of Jewish faith, veteran and
non-veteran, to cooperate with us in this
program.

service.

Memorial Day is the most solemn and
day a grateful Nation pays its respects
its defense, who died so that it may live
beneatl

death, were our comrades. Together,
them fall at our side. As %, , reverently

not have died in vain, that the ideals
hood for which they made the Supren
profusion above their graces, shall do
