BAR MITZVAH Congress Women Hear Outline Of Peace Basis Page Hadassah Opens $85,000 Drive A drive for $85,000 was launched Tuesday by the Detroit Chapter of Hadassah at its lunch- eon at Hotel Statler which in- augurated the 1945-46 Honor Roll campaign. The Hadassah is seeking $60,000 for its regular activities, and in addition, $25.- 000 toward the building of a 200-bed tuberculosis sanitarium in Jerusalem. Mrs. Sidney J. Allen is the Honor Roll chair- man, while Mrs. Dorah Ehrlich heads the hospital fund drive. About 400 women attended the luncheon and heard Dr. Carl Hermann Voss of Pittsburgh. ex- ecutive secretary of the Chris- tian Council for Palestine. Dr. Voss declares that from the Christian point of view the set- tlement of the Jewish problem in Palestine would help the whole world. The solution of the Jewish problem is part of the Christian world problem, the speaker as- serted, and therefore, must be solved by Christians. He declar- ed that the Christian world can- not be blamed for not under- standing the Jewish problem be- cause there are so many world problems. He urged the Hadas- sah members to be more artic- ulate and to inform the Chris- tian world what is happening in Jewry. He stated that, in his opinion, the majority of Jews wanted Palestine. Dr. Voss called anti-Semitism a blot on civilization. He told of the work done by the Chris- tian friends of a Jewish Home- land in Palestine and praised the Histadrut as being the only labor group in the world which pleaded for more immigrants.
