Three thousand persons have been
invited to this rally. The audi-
ence will represent 118 Detroit
organizations who have aided in
the fund drive.
Dr. Barnett R. Brickner, Zion-
ist. leader, who was chosen by
,tile war department to tour
camps in this country and over-
:eas, and to observe conditions
in the camps and to interview
Jewish soldiers, will be one of
the main speakers. The other
pritildpal speaker will be Baruch
Zuckerman, brilliant Yiddish or-
ator and journalist. Moishe Oy-
sher, noted cantor and concert
singer, will appear as the guest
artist in the musical program.
Detroit Jewish organizations
are urged by the Jewish Com-
munity Council to write to their
Congressmen and Senators and
urge the passage of the Fair
Employment Practices Legisla-
tion, now pending in the U.S.
Senate and in Congress. It is
urged that Senators be asked to
vote for the Chavez bill instead
of the Taft measure, as the lat-
ter lacks adequate enforcement
provisions. Congressmen should
be asked to vote for H.R. Bill
2232, which is still in the House
Rules Committee
Organizations and their mem-
bers and the Jewish public at
large are asked to urge State
Legislators and State Senators
to vote for the Fair Employment
Bill now before the Legislature,
and also to appeal to Governor
Kelly. These state and federal
acts are necessary to insure a
fair 'distribution of jobs and to
ban discrimination after the war,
the Council declares. The bill
is having hard sledding in the
Legislature.

Jewish Agency
Hails Brigade
JERUSALEM (WNS). — The
Jewish Agency and the .Jewish
National Council, hailing the re-
port that the Jewish Brigade had
gone into active combat on the
Italian front, declared that "the
men of the Jewish Brigade are
the representatives at the front
of the Jewish people." The state-
ment appealed to the Jewish
youth of Palestine to enlist in
the Brigade so as to accelerate
the removal of the last barrier
between the Jews in the demo-
cratic countries and the rem-
nants of European Jewry.
The statement reads:
"The Jewish Brigad e Group
has gone into battle. Hundreds
of thousands of Jewish sol-
diers 'have been fighting for
the past six years as anony-
mous individuals in the ranks
of all the Allied armies. Tens
of thousands of Jewish volun-
teers from Palestine are serv-
ing in the British Army, the
Royal Air Force, the Royal
Navy and the Auxiliary Terri
torial Service. They have par-
taken in the African, Asian
and European campaigns with-

WASHINGTON—Requesting that the Jewish peo-
ple be granted a hearing at the United Nations Security
Conference at San Francisco, the American Jewish Con-
ference submitted to the Department of State a "secur-
ity" program for the Jewish people in the postwar world.
NEW YORK—Catholic, Jewish
and Protestant clergymen are
agreed upon 10 recommendations
for the United Nations Charter

which "offer practical guidance
to all men of good will."
The recommendations iv e r e
made by the Rev. Richard M.
Fagley, secretary, Commission on
it Just and Durable Peace, Fed-
eral Council of Churches; Rabbi
Ahron Opher, secretary, Commit-
tee on Peace, Synagogue Coun-
cil of America, and the Rev. Ed-
ward A. Conway, S.J., Social Ac-
lion Department, National Cath-
olic Welfare Conference.
T h e Conferenc e declared
that it spoke for the majority
of American Jews in asking
the United Nations to 'Incor-
porate in their charter an In-
ternational Bill of Rights, to
speed the reconstitution of
Palestin e as a Jewish Com-
monwealth, to restore the civil
and political rights of the
Jews of Europe, to undertake
measures for their rehabilita-
tion and resettlement and the
restoration of their property
confiscated b y the Nazis and
their collaborators, and to
punish those responsible for
the war crimes against the
Jewish people.
PETITIONS FOR RIGHT
In requesting the right to pre-
sent to the United Nations Con-
ference the program for the
restoration of rights and status
to the remnants of the Jewish
people who have survived the
Nazi "gas chamber and firing
squad census," the Conference
memorandum declared:
"Now when those who have
been so long silenced by the
oppressor are to be permitted
to speak, it would be gross
inequity if this right were to
be granted to all, and with-
held only from the most op-
pressed; reserving for them
only the dubious privilege of
'ex parte' utterance.
"After 20 centuries of wan-
dering and discrimination, cli-
maxed by the events of the
last nightmare decade, the Jew-
ish people is burdened with
the effects of countless wrongs
perpetrated against it. The
righting of these wrongs is
today the great desideratum
not only of their particular
victims, but of all mankind.
"The council of the United
Nations, therefore, constitutes
the proper forum for their
discussion, the proper instru•
ment for their rectification.
There, the Jewish people has
a right to be heard. Heard,
it can confidently feel that
