World Congress
Of Rabbis Set
For Next Summer

NEW YORK (WNS) — Plans
to convene the first World Rab-
binical Congress, with the pur-
pose of drawing up a coordinated
program for restoring Jewish re-
ligious life in Europe, were an-
nounced this week by the Union
of Orthodox Rabbis of the Unit-
ed States and Canada. The con-
gress is tentatively scheduled to
meet in New York during the
first two weeks of August.
The union announced that a
drive for contributions of Jew-
ish educational books, religious
articles and funds for the pur-
chase of these items would be
officially opened this week.
Rabbis hoped that the dnive,
to be conducted in Canada and
the United States, would realize
at least $2,500,000, which is
needed immediately to render
"religious first aid" to European
Jews.
