Mrs. Morris Roth, chairman of war bonds, announced a Bond Drive to purchase an Emergency Ambulance Plane and a deep therapy X-Ray Machine. Under the chairmanship of Mrs, Morton Jacobs and her co- chairmen, Airs. Benjamin Krell, Jr. and Mrs. Norman Noble, plans will be laid for the 1945 annual luncheon at a tea to be given at the home of Mrs. Jacobs. A combined meeting of the 1944 and 1945 board will take place at 11 a. m. Feb. 19 at the Pallister Tea Room, followed by a luncheon and afternoon of games, The regular meeting of the Neugarten Medical Aid will be held at the Jewish Center at 11 p. m. Feb. 26. A Children's Festival Concert will be presented by the Detroit Public Library as the next event of the Detroit Youth Festival at 8 p. in. Friday, Feb, 23, at the $500,000 Raised for Weizmann School Main Library Auditorium. This concert is planned for children from nine to 16, and include compositions written by and for children. The third Youth Festival event will be the Detroit Symphony Young People's Concert of Feb. 24, at Masonic Temple. A chorale composed by Patricia Louise Moody, nine, and a cello sonata by Kurt Saffir, , 14, will be performed on Friday. NEW YORK—American gifts for the establishment in Pales- tine of the Weizmann Institute of Science total $500,000. The goal is $2,000,000. The program was announced Nov. 27, 1944, as a 70th birth- day tribute to Dr. Chaim Weiz- mann. The site for the Institute has already been acquired in Rehovoth, Palestine, in the im- mediate vicinity of Daniel Sieff Institute, which will serve as the nucleus of the new research center. The climax of the American committee's fund drive will be reached this Spring when Dr. Weizmann, during his visit to the United States, will be pre- sented with a check of $1,000,000 :18_11 first installment. KURT SAFFIR Auditor Friel Seeks Re-Election Fitzgerald in Race For Common Pleas Alfred C. Marshall, Edison Official, Dies Lt. Ettenheimer Promoted in Field Alfred C. Marshall, director, consultant and chairman of the operating council of The Detroit Edison Co., died Friday, Feb. 9, at Harper Hospital, following a short illness. His death was caused by an injury received from a full which occurred Jan. 28. In May, 1944, Mr, Marshall retired as president of Detroit Edison, a position he had held since 1940. He was a well-known industrialist and took an active part in the civic life of the community. Mr. Marshall is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; a brother, Luther K. Marshall, St. Peters- burg, Fla.; a (laughter, Mrs. James Mock ; and a son, Brooks Marshall of Birmingham. He was born in Middleton, 0,, Sept. 26, 1872. He was educated in the Detroit public schools and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1893 with a Bach- elor of Science degree in elec- trical engineering. In 1932, the University of Michigan conferred upon him the honorary degree of Master of Science • in Engi- neering. Wayne University hon- o•ed him in 1943 with a degree of Doctor of Arts in Business Administration. He was first employed by the Edison Co. in 1904. He became a vice president of Detroit Edi- son in 1913, and in 1923 was made general manager.
