Seymour Lipkin,
17-year-old
Detroit pianist, will be guest
soloist with the Detroit Sym-
phony Orchestra on Saturday
evening, Jan. 13. Seymour's last
appearance in Detroit was as
guest artist under the auspices
of the Detroit Music Club in
January, 1943. He was the
youngest artist ever presented
by that group. The launching
of the polio drive on CKLW will
be held Monday evening, Jan.
15, at 11.15, and will have Sey-
mour as their guest artist. He
was invited to remain especially
for this program.
."The American Jew and the
Growth of American Democ-
racy" will be the . topic at 8
p. m. Monday, Jan. 15, at the
second lecture of the Institute
on the American Jewish People.
The Institute is being held at
the First Congregational Church,
Woodward and Forest, and is
running for six consecutive Mon-
day evenings.
The speaker Monday will be
the Rev. Ben Richardson of
New York, co-pastor of the Af-
rican Baptist Church. The In-
stitute on Jan. 22 will feature
an Evening of Jewish culture.
