William B. Isenberg on Edison
Ave. Tuesday, Dec. 12, to launch
the annual Sylvia Simons Schol-
arship Memorial Fund Concert
on Jan. 10, at the Detroit Insti-
tute of Arts.
This year the young artist will
be the brilliant Chechoslavakian

of music; also such philanthropic
projects as Percy Jones Music
Appreciation Room, supplying
hospital ships with radios, rec-
ords, etc.

are the following: Mrs. Harry
Cohen, chairman; Mrs. Jack
Scherr and Mrs. J. S. Sauls, co-

Rabbi Joshua Sperka of Con-
gregation Bnai David will
broadcast a Chanukah mes-
sage over Station WWJ on
Sunday, Dec. 10, at 8.30 a. m.
The subject of the broadcast
is "Hebraism, Hellenism and
Hitlerism." This will be a
brief comparative study of
these three philosophies as they
affect Jewish life. An attempt
will be made not only to an-
alyze these questions, but to
show what our answer must be
in order to preserve the es-
sence of Judaism and civiliza-
tion.
This broadcast is part of a
religious program instituted
by WWJ to bring to the com-
munity the interpretation of
Jewish Festivals and Holy
Days. Since its establishment
as a regular feature of the
Jewish Radio Pulpit WWJ has
invited Rabbi Joshua Sperka
of Bnai David to direct this
program.
Rabbi Sperka will also give
the noon prayers over this sta-
tion on alternate Fridays.
