Jack Ellstein Seeks
Election as Democratic
Representative Nov. 7

Jack Ellstein, nominated on
,(f July 11 for representative to
( he State Legislature on the Dem-
ocratie ticket, asks the readers
of this publication for their sup-
port at the polls on Tuekday,
Nov. 7. He submits the follow-
ing information concerning him-
self, and feels that his business
experience qualifies him for the
office he seeks.
Ellstein was born in Russia in
1901 and come to this country
at the age of eight. He attended
grammar and high school and
then took special courses at
night school. In 1925 he became
a citizen, and joined the Labor
Movement in 1928, affiliating with
the AFL until 1936. In Novem-
ber, 1936, he became business
representative of the ACWA and
was later promoted to be man-
ager of the Detroit Joint Board
of the ACWA. He has been re-
elected by the delegates to the
Joint Board for the past three
years. He is the business repre-
sentative of the Cleaners' and
Dyers' Local No. 124, ACWA.
Among his other connections, he
was recently elected to the CIO,
Political Action Committee of
Wayne County, as vice president.
He is a member of Ration Board
No. 82-3, was appointed as a
Labor Panel Board, also to the
War Production Board.
Mr. Ellstein is married and
has two daughters, and resides
at 18497 Roselawn Ave. He is
active in communal affairs and
is a member of Bnai Moshe Syn-
agogue. He asks for your sup-
port and feels that he can ful-
fill the requirements of the posi•
tion as the Democratic Represen-
tative of the First District to the
State Legislaure.

Date of Sisters of
Zion Mizrachi Lunch
Changed to Dec. 20

The Sisters of Zion Mizrachi
will sponsor the eighth annual
donor luncheon on Wednesday,
Dec. 20, in the Social Hall of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
Mrs. Rose Singer was appoint-
ed general chairman of the lunch-
eon, with Mrs. Meyer Beckman
as co-chairman. An elaborate
program is being arranged for
this occasion.
The two Mizrachi schools and
homes for girls in Palestine are
not now large enough to accom-
modate all the refugee girls. The
proceeds from this luncheon will
be used to help build the new
"Meshek" (a farm school and
home for refugee girls), that the
Mizrachi women are now building
in Palestine. Members and friends
are urged to attend the lunch-
eon, and help make it a success.

Those who ivish to make their
pledges, please call the chairmen
of ways and means, Mrs. H. Fin-
kelstein, Tyler 4-2481, or Mrs.

Mrs. A. Subar is chairman of
rummage sales, Tyler 4-2481.
Organizations are asked to please
keep the date open for this af-
fair.
The first pep rally meeting will
be held by the Chapter on Tues-
day, Nov. 7, at 1 p. m. at the
Shaarey Zedek.
Miss Diana Pollack Camen,
composer, will render several vo-
cal selections. It will be an open
meeting. Members and friends
are invited.

Men's Club of Temple
Israel Now Planning
Father and Son Party

Jacob A. Citrin. president of
the Men's Club, announces that
early arrangements are being
made for the Father and Son
party. M. H. Levine was select-
ed as chairman of the commit-
tee, to be assisted by Irving
Small. Harry Pliskow and Sol 1.
Stein.
The committee is planning an
unusual affair and are attempt-
ing to obtain the services of one
of America's best known magic-
ians and his entire revue. The
committee will be aided by the
co-chairmen of the entertainment
committee, Barney Barnett and
Charles Bassay.
The initial dinner, held at the
Statler Hotel on Oct. 25, was
the most successful one ever held
by the Men's Club of the Tem-
ple Israel.
