Bnai Brith Furnishes Hospitality Houses and
Bnai Moshe Holiday
Community Center at Ft. Ontario Refugee Shelter Services to Begin
Sunday Eve., Sept. 17

Congregation Bnai Moshe will
begin Rosh Hashonah observance
with evening services Sunday at
7:15. Morning devotions Mon-
day and Tuesday will begin at
7:15 and the prayers will be led
by Cantor David Katzman, as-
sisted by a choir under the direc-
tion of Nathan Turbowsky.
Rabbi Moses Fischer will de-
liver the sermon Monday and
he chose as his topic, "The Mes-
sage of the Shofar to Jewry for
the Year 5705." Rabbi Jacob J.
Nathan will preach on Tuesday
and the subject of his discourse
will be "Crisis and Decision."
The Junior Congregation will
hold separate services for boys
and girls in the social hall and
they will assume complete re-
sponsibility for the services from
beginning to end. The Chazanim,
Baal Korah, disdussants and ush-
ers will be composed of the jun-
iors.
The question, "The Signifi-
cance of Rosh Hashonah and Yom
Kippur in the Lives of the Jew,"
will be discussed by a panel com-
posed of Richard Rosman, Dolo-
res Kay, Elaine Berger, Beverly
Rozner, Phyllis Gelbman, Mildred
Selman and Myron Novitz. The
discussion will take place before
the Musaf service. The younger
men who will officiate in the var-
ious capacities are Ralph Shn-
kovitz, Morris Neuvirth, Henry
Lonnenstater, Yale Boesky, Wal-
ter Nussbaum and Milford Sobel.
Walter Farber, director of the

Bnai Brith Hillel Foundation and Beth
Israel to Hold High Holy Day Services

Arrangements have been made
for joint High Holy Day Services
at the Beth Israel Center, 538
N. Division St., Ann Arbor, un-
der the auspices of the Beth Is-
rael Congregation of Ann Arbor
and the Bnai Brith Hillel Foun-
dation of the University of Mich-
igan, it has been announced by
Osias Zwerdling, president of the
Beth Israel Congregation and of
the Michigan Bnai Brith Foun-
dations, Inc.
The services are to be conduct-
ed by Rev. Isaac Goldman, rev-
erend of the Beth Israel Con-
gregation; and Cantor Jacob
Skolnick, formerly cantor of the
Shaarey Zedek Congregation of
Detroit, on Sept. 17, 18, 26 and
27. Rabbi Jehudah M. Cohen,
director of the Bnai Brith Hillel
Foundation of the University of
Michigan, will deliver the sermons
for the services.
There will be evening services
for the High Holy Days on Sept.
17, 18 and 26; and morning serv-
ices on Sept. 18, 19 and 27. All
evening services will begin at
7:30 p. m. except the one for
Kol Nidre, on Sept. 26, which
is to start at 7 p. m.; and all
morning services commence at
8 a. m.
Capt. R. P. Cassidy, command-
ant of Navy Personnel on the
University of Michigan campus,
and Col. R. E. Smith, command-
ing officer of Army Personnel
on campus, have granted Navy
and Army Personnel permission
to attend services and, where pos-
sible, passes to attend religious
services in their home cities, if
these cities are near-by. Permis-
sion for this was arranged by
Rabbi Jehudah M. Cohen, who
serves as the Jewish Chaplain

for Army and Navy Personnel
stationed at the University of
Michigan.

on behalf of Bnai Brith Hillel
Foundation at the University of
Michigan are in the charge of
Netta Siegel of Cleveland, 0..

Parents have been requested
not to bring children to the serv-
ices in view of the poliomyelitis
epidemic.

INFANTS SERVICE GROUP

The Infants Service Group
met at the home of Mrs. Doris
Gantz, 17545 Sorrento, Monday
evening, Sept. 11. Co-hostesses
were Mrs. Edna Lesser and Mrs.
Connie Ross. Plans for their
main event to be held in January
were discussed and rehearsals
will begin early next month. Mrs.
Mickey Levin announced that the
Club would be hostess at a Sun-
day morning breakfast and also
a Friday evening service for the
boys in the armed forces. An
early date is planned for a
Blood Donor Day and all mem-
bers and their friends are urged
to donate.
