Governor Kelly Greets Michigan Jewry
Editor

525 Woodward Avenue
Detroit 26, Michigan
Dear Sir:
It is fitting that upon the occasion of your High
Holy Days I extend to the Jewish people everywhere my
sincerest best wishes for the future, and my heartfelt
commendation for your courageous demeanor in the face
of untold hardships and suffering in the years now past.
On this occasion I join with all people in their
prayers that the ensuing year may be the year of final
and complete deliverance of all oppressed people from
persecution and tyranny, and that in the future every
individual, regardless of race or creed, may be privileged
to lead a normal, happy life.
Sincerely,
Harry F. Kelly, Governor.

Petoskey Notes

During the regular Friday
night services on Friday, Sept. 1,
the newly acquired Honor Roll
of Congregation Bnai Israel was
dedicated. After a special prayer
for those serving with the armed
forces, composed by Rabbi Selig
S. Auerbach, and spoken before
the open Ark, Mrs. Irene Gordon,
mother of a daughter serving
with the WACs, uncovered the
Honor Roll, bearing the names of
the nine members of the Congre-
gation serving in the army.

Sholosh Sudos were held for
the first time in Petoskey, with
Isaac Gendelman of Detroit, and
Rabbi Auerbach as hosts.
