of an address by Miss Milly
Brandt, National Chairman of

Division, American Jewish Con-
gress, at Jewish Community Cen-
ter, Wednesday, Sept. 13, at
12:30 p. rn.
Born in England, a graduate
of Columbia University, a former
teaches in Canadian colleges,
Miss Brandt is, by training and
practical experience, well fitted
for the task of outlining the leg-
islative action program of the
Woman's Division. Miss Brandt
will explain how American wom-
en can influence legislation to
combat anti-Semitism and through
mobilizing publicopinion bring
about progressive legislation
which will rightfullly interpret
the principles of the Constitu-
tion and the Bill of Rights.
Mrs. Philip Stellar is chair-
man of the local legislative com-
mittee and invites the participa-
tion of interested members in
this important phase of Congress
activity.
Mrs. David Bernstein, vice
president in charge of Educa-
tion, announces the following
committee appointments: Pro-
gram, Mrs. Samuel Olsher; inter-
faith, Mrs. Harry Stocker; pub-
licity, Mrs. Arthur Gould and
Mrs. Samuel Nelson; Congress
Weekly, Mrs. Julian Tobias.
Weekly study groups for alter-
nating Thursday afternoons and
evenings and monthly Interfaith
meeting for Friday afternoons
will start after the Holy Days.
"Guide to American Social Prob-
lems" edited by Beth Levin Sie-
gel, will be used as a basis for
discussion. Registrations will be
taken at this meeting.

Cantor Abraham Gartenhaus of
New York has been engaged as
the cantor for the ensuing year.
With him, there will be a sym-
phonic choir under the direction
of David Shkolnick.

preach at all services.

The Supplementary Services of
Temple Beth El in the Brown
Memorial Chapel on Rosh Hash-
onah and Yom Kippur will be
conducted by Dr. Leo M. Frank-
lin, Rabbi Emeritus. A profes-
sional quartette and organist,
trained by Julius Chajes, music
director of the Temple, will ren-
der the musical program. These
services are open to non-mem-
bers. Cards of admission, for
which there is a nominal charge,
may be obtained at the Temple
Office.

School Registration
Begins Sun., Aug. 27

The Religious School of Con-
gregation Bnai David announces
registration for Sunday, Aug. 27,
and Sunday, Sept. 3, from 11
a. m. to 12 noon at the Syna-
gogue.
The Bnai David. Religious
School holds its classes at the
building of Central High School
and has accommodations for all
ages. The Religious School has
a kindergarten, 8 grades, and
high school department. The
school has been supervised by
Rabbi Sperka for the last 11
years and the faculty members
are trained and devoted teachers.
Registration for both old and
new students will be held in the
school office at Congregation
Bnai David, Elmhurst at 14th,
for the next two Sundays, from
11 a. m. to 12 noon. (Please
note that the registration is at
the Synagogue Building and not

ish Women's European Welfare
Organization will be held Mon-
day, Aug. 28, at Congregation
Bnai Moshe, Dexter and Law-
rence.
At this meeting committee re-
ports will be heard regarding aid
to orphans and also the matter
of sending special relief to the
orphans on the organizations' list
for the coming High Holy Days.
Final arrangements will be
made for a home-cooked open-air
luncheon to be given Tuesday,
Aug. 29, at the home of Mrs.

gregation took place on Sunday,
Aug. 6 at Marysville Park, and
turned out to be a huge success.
The Sisterhood raffled a War
Bond and netted about $175.00.
