returned to Detroit after spend-
ing a vacation in Montreal, Can-
ada, and Laurentian Mountains,
Quebec.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Gilberg of
Canterbury Dr. have received
word that Col. John T. Rhea,
commanding officer of Ft. Sher-
idan, Ill., has appointed their son,
Capt. Sidney M. Gilberg, post
property officer and post quarter-
master. Capt. Gilberg has been

post for the past two years.
The many friends of Lt. David
Crohn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Law-
rence Crohn of Wildemere Ave.,
will be pleased to learn that he
is convalescing at a base hospital
in England. Lt. Crohn was sent
to Normandy on the sixth day
after D-Day and in the perform-
ance of his duties was injured
by a bullet passing through his
left arm. He has informed his
parents that he is out of danger

Van Saake painted, while there,
the portraits of the children of
the Freeman family. He is leav-

where he intends to open a
