On May 25, the Congregation Shaarey Zedek was a beautiful
setting when Miss Meriam Kassel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron
Kassel of Atkinson Ave., became the bride of William Gilbert, son
of Betty and the late Hyman (Mooney) Goldberg of this city.
The bride was charming in a candlelight satin gown with
illusion net and inserts of chantilly lace. Her finger-tip veil wa: ,
also of illusion net caught with lilies-of-the-valley. She carried a
white prayer book covered with white orchids.
The bride's attendants were Miss Zena Berkowitz, who acted
as maid-of-honor. Mrs. Bernard Gerson, sister of the groom, was
matron-of-honor. The bridesmaids were the Misses Rhoda Cowen,
Della Bronstein and Michelle Guitman of New York City. The
junior bridesmaid was Miss Regina Kassel, sister of the bride.
The groom was attended by Bernard Gerson, who acted as
best man. The ushers were Dr. Al Seifer of Chicago, Lt. Paul
Bihary, Ben Pivnik, U. S. N., and Joe Linden.
After the ceremony, at which Rabbi Hershman and Cantor
Sonenklar officiated, a buffet dinner was served to 300 guests.
Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Baumann
and Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Baumann of New York City, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Kassel of Washington, D. C., Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin
Baumann of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mr. and Mrs. George Schneider of
Findley, 0., and Mrs. Morris Freed of Farrell, Pa.
The bridal couple are spending their honeymoon at the Edge-
water Beach Hotel in Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert will be at home after June 15 at the
Leo Plaza Hotel.
