Annual Hillel Honors Banquet at University of
Michigan to Be Held on Sunday, May 21

The annual Hillel honors ban-
quet at the University of Michi-
gan Bnai Brith Hillel Founda-
tion in Ann Arbor will be held at
5:30 p. m. Sunday, May 21. At
the banquet, all Hillel members
who are to be honored for their
service to the Foundation during
the past year will receive their
awards.
Ten Hillel honor keys will be
presented to students who have
rendered outstanding contribu-
tions to the Foundation. Juniors
and seniors are eligible to re-
ceive honor keys. The winners
are chosen by the executive com-
mittee of the Hillel tudent Coun-
cil.
The Hillel cabinet award, which
is given annually to a maximum
of 10 seniors who have served
the Foundation meritoriously for
at least two years, will also be
presented at the banquet. Recip-
ients of this award will have
their names inscribed on a plaque
in the Foundation.
The winners of three Hillel
scholarships, presented by the
Pisgah Auxiliary, Bnai Brith, of
Detroit in cooperation with the
Women's District Grand Lodge
No. 6, will be announced at this
time. The scholarships include
a student director scholarship,
valued at $250; a hostess schol-
arship, valued at $150, and a
Hillel work scholarship, also $150.
The Arnold Schiff memorial
award, a new award to be given
to the Hillel member contribut-
ing most to Jewish culture dur-
ing the past year, will be pre-
sented at the banquet. The
award has been established by
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold B. Schiff
of Columbus, 0. in honor of
their son, Arnold, a former Uni-
versity of Michigan student.
The Hillel member who has
contributed most to the Hillel
Foundation through public speak-
ing will receive the Milford Stern
prize, presented annually by Mrs.

Mollie Stern of Detroit.
Installation of the new Stu-
dent Council officers, who were
elected Sunday, May 14, to serve
for the coming year, will also be
included in the banquet program.
Stanford Wallace of Detroit has
been re-elected president of the
Council, and Faye Bronstein will
serve as new secretary. Council
vice presidents are elected at a
later meeting according to the
constitution of the Council.
Muriel Kleinwaks, a member of
the newly-elected Council, is
chairman of the banquet com-
mittee, and Sybil Kahn of Bay
City is student director in
charge of the affair.
