A merica 'apish Period cal Carter CLIFTON AVENUE - CINCINNATI 20, OHIO May 12, 1944 DETROIT JEWISH CHRONICLE and Tho Legal Chronicle "Children Without a Home," Thrilling Melodramatic Hit, at Littman's Theater Louis Freiman's latest Yiddish melodrama, "Children Without a Home," starring Max Kletter and Berta Gersten, which. just com- pleted an entire season's run in New York, will open at Littman's Peoples Theater on Friday and Saturday nights, Sunday matinee and night, May 12, 13 and 14. Based on the author's recent popular Jewish radio feature of the same name, the play, in two acts and 12 scenes, tells a hu- man, thrilling story of twin sis- ters, who, as a result of the war and the treachery of their moth- er's old love rival, become "living orphans". The unfortunate fain- ity is separated and continuously harassed by the scheming "other woman" in the domestic triangle, Sergei Lemeshev at Cinem a Theater - until fate takes a hand and finally rights a great wrong. Both Mr. Kletter and Miss Gersten score personal hits in their portrayal of the parents, while Flora Freiman and Anna Winters give Warm and believable performances as the growing or- phans. Anna Toback wins favor as the jjealous woman—a robe she created in New York, in which the audiences there "loved to hate her". Others in the tal- ented supporting cast are Hen- rietta Jacobson, Julius Adler, Lola Feld, Eli Mintz, Simon Wolf. Clara Gold, Abe Dorf, Isaac Arco. Soklivker Verein Aids At U. S. 0.
