The Federation of Lithuanian Racial Question Mar. 28 Elects Its Officers

Jews of Detroit plans to begin
a campaign in April to rescue
their landsleit from the Lite
(former Kovner, Wilner and Su-
walker Gubenues).
The Federation is calling upon
the other Lithuanian societies in
Detroit, the Eishishken, Kalvarier,
Wilner and Suwalker to join
with it to send food and medi-
cine to their stranded brethren
who are scattered now in Si-
beria Tashkent and other parts
of Asiatic Russia.
The national campaign is for
$250,000 and the Detroit quota
is $15,000.
One thousand packages have al-
ready been sent to Siberia dur-
ing the last few months, but
more funds are needed to sustain
the 2,000 families with whom
the Lithuanian Federation keeps
in touch and whose addresses
can be obtained at the local
branch.

At their regular joint meeting
March 28, Louis Marshall Lodge
of Bnai Brith and the Louis
Marshall women will hold a sym-
posium on the "Racial Question,"
with the Rev. Joseph Q. Mayne
as moderator. Participants in the
discussion will be Judge Joseph
A. Moynihan, Alvin D. Hersch
and Dr. Edgar DeWitt Jones.
The meeting will be held at the
Educational Center, Linwood at
Lawrence, at 8:30 in the evening.
Rev. Mayne is the executive
director of the Detroit Round
Table of Catholics, Jews and
Protestants, and Michigan re-
gional director of the National
Council of Christians and Jews.
Dr. Hersch has for many years
been active in brotherhood affairs
and is a member of the faculty
of the University of Detroit.
The other two speakers of the
evening are nationally recog-
nized for the work in community
activities. Dr. Jones, pastor of
the Central Woodward Christian
Church, is a member of the Cen-
tral Advisory Committee of
Christian Churches. Judge Moyni-
han, a distinguished jurist, is
presiding judge of the Circuit
Court in Michigan, and a vice-
president of the National Coun-
cil of Catholic Men.

Monday at the Jewish Home for
Aged for the annual meeting of
the Women's Auxiliary, with elec-

girl flash dancers; Alberta Prime,
swing singer; Morton "Swing"
Brown, specialty dancer; Bobby
Keys, singing and dancing master
of ceremonies; the eight attrac-
tive Taylorettes, musical comedy
precision dancers, and others.
Teddy Buckner and his orchestra
play for dancing and the revue.
"Where There's Music There's
Swing," the club's current pro-
duction, ends Sunday.

get-together scheduled for April,
to May 3, at which time a joint
meeting of the Men's Club and
Sisterhood will be presented in
celebration of Lag b'Omer, vic-
