MRS. DAVID A. EPSTEIN
(Edith Hoffman)
Dr. A. M. Hershman of Shaarey Zedek Synagogue performed
the ceremony at a formal afternoon wedding of Dr. and Mrs.
David A. Epstein, the former Edith Hoffman. The wedding was an
outstanding event of the season.
The petite bride was lovely in a traditional ivory slipper satin
gown. Her full flowing skirt and sweeping train were trimmed in
chantilly lace, which matched the lace in her slim bodice. The
sweetheart neckline of her gown was framed by a single strand of
pearls. Her fingertip veil of dainty net, caught by clusters of
orange blossoms, around the chantilly lace tiara of her headdress,
made the bride impressive. She carried a mother of pearl prayerbook
covered with an exquisite arrangement of huge white orchids and
a spray of baby orchids. The prayerbook was complemented by
streamers, in which forget-me-nots and orange blossoms, interwoven
by bows, gave an ethereal effect.
The groom wore afternoon formal attire, as did his best man,
Alex Hoffman, brother of the bride.
Attending the bride and groom were six bridesmaids and ushers.
The bridesmaids made a graceful picture in their ice blue taffeta
gowns. They carried huge bouquets of pink roses to match the
rosebuds in their hair.
Parents of the bride and groom, maid and matron of honor,
all attired in afternoon formal dress, completed the bridal proces-
sion. Lt. Max Hoffman, brother of the bride, was guest of honor at
the ceremony.
A reception and dancing followed the ceremony, with 600
guests attending.
A dinner in honor of the bride and groom was held at the
home of the bride's parents and was attended by out-of-town
guests and the bridal party. The out-of-town guests included Lt. M.
Hoffthan, Mrs. H. Pine, Mr. and Mrs. I. Cantor, Mrs. P Michaelson,
Mrs.M. Graff, Mrs. L. Bernstein, Mrs. B. Gittleman, Mrs. S. Flax-
man, Mrs. I. Hoffman, Lt. J. Emmer, Sgt. A. J. Silberstein, and
Seaman 2/C. D. Cantor.
Unable to attend the wedding of his sister, Corporal William
Hoffman of the United States Army, sent regrets from overseas.
The bridal couple spent their honeymoon at Hollywood, Fla.
Dr. Epstein is a graduate of the University of Detroit and a
member of Alpha Omega Fraternity.
