Lodge Joint Meeting

The East Side Lodge No. 1465
of Bnai Brith and the Ladies'
Auxiliary will hold a joint meet-
ing at the Pillar Temple, 14529
Kercheval, on Monday, March 13
at 9 p. m.
The speaker of the evening will
be Rabbi Morton Applebaum of
Temple Beth El, Flint, Michigan.
Rabbi Applebaum was the prin-
cipal speaker at the installation
of officers two years ago and his
return is by the request of many
members who heard him then. Re-
cently, Rabbi Applebaum was one
of the three speakers at the
brotherhood dinner held at the
Temple Beth El by the Detroit
Round Table of Catholics, Jews
and Protestants and his message
was acclaimed by Jew and Gentile
alike.
All who wish to hear Rabbi
Applebaum are invited to attend.
Refreshments will be served by
the Ladies' Auxiliary.

The guest speaker, Dr. Preston
Scott of Wayne University, was
introduced by Mrs. George Ko-
yen.
On Thursday afternoon a Pu-
rim party was tendered the aged
residents of, the home by the
Women's Auxiliary, with Mrs.
Joseph Rose and Mrs. Herman
Bregman, co-chairmen of the sun-
shine committee, in charge. En-
tertainment was furnished by ac-
tors of the Littman Theater and
Cantor Anton Rosenfeld of Con-
gregation Shaar Hashomayim of
Windsor.

Women's Auxiliary,
Jewish Home for Aged

On Wednesday, March 8, the
Women's Auxiliary of the Jewish
Home for Aged held a combined
meeting of the augmented board
and an orientation tea for new
members in the lounge of the
home.
Mrs. I. E. Goodman was chair-
man of the day; her co-chairmen
were Mesdames T. Lebovitz, A.
M. Ferar, S. Weller and David
Kliger.

Speaker at Luncheon

The American Women's Volun-
tary Services, is very much in
need of white salvage material,
old sheets, pillow cases, shirts,
table cloths. This material is cut
up,..and made into cancer pads
that is sent to the hospitals. We
are urging all groups to run
showers, collect old linen and turn
it in to our headquarters at 35
East Adams Ave.
We are also in need of women
to sew these pads. They can be
done at home, by hand or ma-
chine, come packed 25 in a bundle
and are very easy to make. Again
we urge women to bring in
salvage linen and also to sew for

At a board meeting of the
Infants Service Group, held in
the home of Mrs. Harry Wein-
garden, Mrs. Sam Bank sent in
a report saying that the break-
fast furnished by the group for
the boys in Camp Custer was
received and greatly enjoyed.
This is only one of the many
projects that the group has un-
dertaken for the duration.
A majority of the members
volunteered to work on the Red
Cross drive, and the group has
agreed to double their contribu-
tion of last year. Further plans
were made for the coming spring
bingo. Mrs. Sam Katz and Mrs.
Abe Young were named ticket
chairmen.

A paid-up membership lunch-
eon will be held by the Sisters
of Zion Mizrachi, on Wednesday,
March 15, at 1 p. in., at Congre-
gation Shaarey Zedek.
William Hordes, president of
the Jewish National Fund Coun-
cil, will be the guest speaker of
the afternoon. Recitations will
be given by Miss Miriam Bern-
stein.
Mrs. Dora Moses is chairman
of the membership drive, and
Mrs. Harry Finkelstein is co-
chairman. Hostesses are Mrs. L.
Honigman, Mrs, M. New and Mrs.
Melinsky. Refreshments commit-
tee consists of Mrs. Rose White-
man and Mrs. Anna Kelmano-
witz.
