Russian Record of
Victory at Cinema

For any moviegoer who wants
to understand the full important'
of Russia's continued smashing
victories over the Nazis, there
is one film that is indispensable.
Such a film is "Day After Day,"
now showing at the Cinema Thea-
ter, located at Columbia and
Woodward.
From the cameras of 160 cam-
eramen, 19 of whom were killed
taking this picture, comes battle
scenes beyond description. Noth-
ing is omitted, no part of Rus-
sian life overlooked, while the
whole is colored by the ever-
p•esent shadow of war. Women
work and fight beside men. A
pianist plays for men about to
go into action. A child weeps at
the body of a fallen comrade,
and old women in shawls tear at
the rubble of fire-gutted build-
ings. Such scenes as these have
made "Day After Day' the most
dramatic film of this war.
In addition, the Cinema Thea-
ter presents "Vanka." a featur-
ette which tells of an orphaned
girl who disguises - herself in
boy's clothing and assumes the
name of "Vanka" to insure her
acceptance by a guerrilla band.
The role of "Vanka" is played
by Yannina Jeimo, well known to
Russian audiences for her enact-
ment of children's roles.
