Jr. Hadasah Discusses
Labor Zionism at Meet

As the current series of study
group lectures, sponsored by the
Detroit Chapter of Junior Ha-
dassah, draws near a close, the
group will feature A. Meyero-
witz in a discussion of "Labor
Zionism". Mr. Meyerowitz will
present Zionism as his group in-
terprets it, and show how this
interpretation differs from other
interpretations of Zionism.
The meeting will be held at
the Hadassah offices, 9144 Lin-
wood Ave., at 8 p. in. on Jan.
25. The public is invited to at-
tend.
Any girl who has not yet
pledged for the donor luncheon
is urged to contact Miss Alyse
Geer who will send her a pledge
card and raffle book. Girls de-
siring extra raffle books should
also contact Miss Geer, or the
captain of their team.

EQUALITY CLUB
The meeting of the Equality
Club was held at the home of
Sylvia Berkowitz on Jan. 5, at
2516 LaBelle. Second nomina-
tions and election of officers was
held. The newly-elected officers
are: Betty Berkowitz, president ;
Ann Berkowitz, vice president ;
Rose Karnow, financial secretary ;
Alice Gallant, recording secre-
tary; Jennie Jaffe, treasurer; vis-
iting sick committee, Rose Borak
and Dora Berkowitz. The in-
stallation will be held some time
this month.



Hebrew Schools Weekly "Bitter Sweet" Second
Examinations Being Held Of Civic Opera Series

The weekly examinations in
the classrooms, which have been
instituted in all the branches of
the United Hebrew Schools, are
in full progress.
On Sunday, Jan. 23, at 11
o'clock in the morning, there
will be an examination in D.
Schackney's class in the Rose
Sittig Cohen Branch, under the
supervision of A. J. Lachover.
This class will be examined in
the elements of Hebrew and
reading..
The following week, Sunday,
Jan. 30, there will be an exam-
ination on the "Book of Genesis"
in the class of E. Rubenfein in
the David W. Simons Branch un-
der the supervision of S. Kasdan.

CARDOZO CLUB

At its recent election, the Car-
dozo Club elected as officers the
following: President, Charles
Makie; vice president, Sam Ru-
din ; recording secretary, Harry
H. Shapiro; treasurer, Joe Sha-
piro; sergeant-at-arms, Gilbert
Miller; trustee, Hy Kinitzer.
The officers will be installed at
a ceremony at the club's next
meeting on Feb. 20. Max E.
Hecker, chairman of the enter-
