President of Conference
On Science, Philosoph Y

N. Y., concluded with the re-
election of Dr. Louis Finkelstein,
president of the Jewish Theologi-
cal Seminary, as president.
The five-day session, which was
attended by more than 200 out-
standing educators, philosophers,
historians, economists and scien-
tists, was devoted to a discussion
of the function of scholarship in
the establishment of enduring
peace.
Addressing one of the early
sessions of the conference, Dr.
Finkelstein declared that "with
victory for the United Nations
as a foreseeable reality, it has
become imperative that plans for
peace be given careful considera-
tion" and that scholarship "ful-
fill its true function" in that task.
