At a meeting of the Detroi
branch of the HaPoal HaMizra
chi, held on Thursday, July 8,
an executive committee was se-
lected to conduct the business of
the organization. Those selected
were Rabbi Mordecai L. Paretsky,
chairman, Max Chomsky, Rabbi
Ernest E. Greenfield, Joseph Kol-
ler, Max Temchin, Zelda Rosen-
thal and Dorothy Temchin.
The meeting was held at the
home of Miss Esther Edelman.
Among those present were two
former chalutzim of the HaPoal
HaMizrachi movement. Besides
the election, plans were discussed
concerning the strengthening of
the local branch and popularizing
the ideals of the movement.
The HaPoal HaMizrachi is a
religious labor movement which
aims to revive Judaism and all
its eternal values through the es-
tablishment in Eretz Israel of a
system of life upon the basis of
Torah. The HaPoal HaMizrachi
believes that Israel's spiritual and
cultural heritage is meaningful
and applicable to our present day
problems and daily life and indis-
pensable to Israel's aspirations
and national destiny. The organi-
zation aims to •reestablish Eretz
Israel as a Jewish .commonwealth
which will afford the Jewish peo-
ple the opportunity to fashion
its national life in accordance
with its own genius and free
will.
